We want to bring you new, inspiring stories about creative people every month in 2014. And we want to create a new, easy-to-navigate website where you can find all kinds of extra content to go along with the audio stories. Read on to find out more about Destination DIY and our exciting plans for the future. We have all kinds of fun ways thank you for being a part of it!

About Destination DIY

Destination DIY is a public radio show and podcast based in the creative hub of Portland, Oregon. Taking the DIY lens beyond home improvement and crafts, Destination DIY blends recorded field sound, in-studio interviews and personal narration to create a shared experience that leaves listeners inspired and empowered. We’re telling the stories of makers, builders, inventors, and other offbeat creatives around the country and the world. While Destination DIY airs on stations around the country, we are an independent show and not affiliated with any radio station. Our funding comes primarily from our listeners.

Our Plan For 2014

In addition to our following on iTunes, we've recently achieved rapid growth in our audience through SoundCloud, where we have now have almost 300,000 followers. The feedback we hear almost universally from our loyal listeners (like you!) is that they wish we created content on a more regular basis. So, in 2014, that is our goal: to provide new content via our podcast and website at least once a month. Rather than creating hour-long shows, we will be focused on individual stories. These pieces will likely find a home on existing radio shows and regional newscasts through our new relationship with the Northwest News Network, where we have already started distributing our stories to 12 regional stations. Destination DIY can only accomplish these goals with the help of people who love the show and want to support it.
