Dia de los Muertos Dayton was born last year! The goal: giving the whole community an opportunity to celebrate the lives of their loved ones passed, joining together through the beautiful Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead! Together, we celebrate life! Dayton is an immigrant friendly city. The Welcome Dayton initiative supports our tremendous diversity, motivating citizens to envision one human family, without barriers, through the various lens of art and culture. This is a prime example of Dayton's heart!!! 

Missing Peace Art Space, part of the Unitarian Fellowship for World Peace, worked with program partners to realize our first year. Program funding allowed us to build community for the event through school residencies, local art exhibition and a parade through the center of Dayton's historic Oregon District. We captured the attention of a cross-section of our beautifully diverse community!! Nearly 350 people participated! This year, Missing Peace Art Space, led by a dedicated group of community artists, are ready to roll out an even bigger celebration for our Dayton family. We are asking for financial support to achieve our goal! 

Dia de los Muertos Dayton Community Ofrenda Celebration: Parade, Opening Party, Reception, Exhibit seeks $3000 in support for parade costs, art supplies and printing costs for marketing materials. These funds will allow for a broader participation, a lengthened parade route and enhanced creative engagement. 

Our perks: wearable art! Whether in our parade or a similar event in your community, Dayton artists create honoring, whimsical masks and puppets that represent All Souls. The parade in Dayton is designed to bring neighbors together, celebrating those lives that have touched ours.
