Does This Taste Funny? 2014 Tour
I began performing stand-up comedy in 2006 in Toronto. Credits include CBC Radio, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, The Atlantic Fringe Fest, Fundy Fringe Fest and clubs and other venues across North America. I was a Top-10 finalist out of more than 700 entrants in the 2011 Canada's Next Top Comic competition.
In 2013, I toured my first solo show Funny, Daddy around Canada's Maritime Provinces to great audience and critical reviews. Halifax's The Coast Magazine said "laughter is the best medicine and I'd say his show offers a healthy dose." TWISI Theatre blog talked about my "strong delivery" and my favourite audience review was "I laughed until I laughed tears."
In autumn of 2014, I will be touring my second solo show Does This Taste Funny? with 15 stops around the Maritimes (Sussex, Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, Miramichi, Bathurst, Campbellton, St. Andrews, Sackville, Charlottetown, Summerside, Halifax, Wolfville, Truro, Sydney) and this Indiegogo campaign will help me fund the 2014 tour in advance.
Does This Taste Funny? is the story of why, despite graduating from a high-profile culinary school and working in restaurants in Canada and Europe, I'm not working as a chef today. The show will be full of food jokes and funny behind-the-scenes stories from the restaurant world.
What I Need & What You Get
In order to make the 2014 tour of Does This Taste Funny? a success, I need to:
- pre-book 15 venues
- pre-arrange advertising in 15 communities (including posters, radio ads, print ads, internet ads)
- travel to the shows by car
- occasionally stay in a hotel (although I usually prefer to drive all night to get home in time for breakfast with my kids)
- rent lights and sound for some of the venues
- pay SOCAN fees in some of the venues
- hire show-night staff in some of the venues
