  • Hire professional Filmmaker Mike Peterson to take the 40 hours of footage shot in the CF-18 (and on the Air Force Base in Cold Lake) and turn it into a 25 minute short film = $2,500
  • Burn DVDs, buy envelopes, mail film to CBC, National Film Board and short film festivals, pay festival entry fees, etc. = $500

  • Have the final 25 minute film professionally Colour Corrected = $800
  • Commission renowned musician and film composer Edo Van Breemen to create an original score and do sound design for the film = $2,000

  • Rent a studio in Vancouver for 3 months ($500/month) = $1,500
  • Purchase art materials (five large 5”x5” canvases, paint, brushes) = $1,500
  • Frame 45 of the 100 drawings ($50/frame) = $2,250

  • Hire a Cinematographer to document the paintings in progress (paintings based on the drawings and video created in the CF-18); visiting the studio 4 times over the course of 3 months = $1,200
  • Hire a professional Video Editor to incorporate this new footage into the short film, potentially expanding it's length to 45 minutes = $1,500

  • Hire a Graphic Designer to design a full-colour 80-page book collecting documentary photos, drawings made in the CF-18 and the resulting paintings = $2,500
  • Commission 2 new texts written by prominent Curators and Art Historians for the book = $1,000

  • Rent a warehouse space to be used as an artist’s studio in Vancouver for 3 months  = $4,500
  • Purchase art materials (a giant 70'x8' roll of canvas, paint, brushes) = $2,500
  • NOTE: If we reach LEVEL #6, the $5,250 raised in LEVEL #3 would be used instead to build a wooden support structure for the large paintings, as well as crates for storage and transportation

  • Tour the film and artwork across Canada, exhibiting in up to 15 museums and/or galleries ($2,000 transportation budget per venue) = $30,000 
  • Michael Markowsky will also craft an inspirational Powerpoint Presentation which he will deliver for FREE while on tour to children in Elementary Schools, Veterans at Legions, students in Universities, etc.

  • Hire Carpenters to advise and assist artist Michael Markowsky to build a giant replica of a CF-18 Hornet fighter plane, made of wood and stretched canvas (the same materials used to build a painting canvas), that children and adults can climb on top of and sit inside of = $7,000
  • Wood and canvas used for the construction of the CF-18, as well as crates for shipping = $3,000

  • Pay an extra $1,500 each to the two original Cinematographers (Oliver McGarvey and Tom Gunia) who generously reduced their fees in order to help get the project off the ground because they believed in it = $3,000
  • Hire a Publicist to help promote the completed project to media outlets across Canada and find additional venues abroad = $5,000
  • Hire Web Designer Alana Kumar to create a permanent website devoted entirely to the project, making documents, video, education materials, etc. available for free = $1,200

  • All money above $73,450 will be divided up equally and donated to the following charities that provide assistance to Canadian military veterans and their families: Royal Canadian Legion, The Hero Fund, (supporting families of fallen soldiers) and the Military Minds Association (supporting veterans suffering from PTSD).
