1.2 Million Drops in the Bucket
A $1 donation can help those who lost their furniture and housewares in the flood begin to rebuild their lives. We know what you're thinking: $1 is just a drop in the bucket. And you're right! However, as we learned from the recent floods, 1.2 Million drops in the bucket adds up to a lot. That's why we've set the lofty goal of raising $1.2 Million in just one month. That's a $1 donation from every person in the Calgary area. (Of course, you're more than welcome to donate more than $1 if you'd like).
What $1.2 Million will Buy
All funds raised will be used to purchase Ikea gift cards for those who lost their furniture and housewares in the recent floods. That's 2,000 $600 gift cards, 3,000 $400 gift cards or 12,000 $100 gift cards. Exact amounts will be determined based on need.
Once we've raised the funds, we'll set up a date and time in August to disperse the cards. Proof of address will be required. Online registration may be used to help us better organize dispersement. Should we have gift cards left over, we will reach out to families in other Alberta communities affected by the flood of 2013.
Leave a Message for Flooded Families
Please leave a message with your donation. Messages will be printed and distributed with gift cards to show those who've lost so much just how much we care.
Who We Are
My name is Michelle Caplan and I'm a Calgary-based Non-Profit Marketing and Fund Development Professional. I moved to Calgary four years ago and am blown away by the incredible people who live in this city. Myself and a group of my friends and colleagues in the Calgary non-profit sector decided we wanted to start a campaign to help people rebuild their lives once they'd had a chance to remediate and renovate their homes.
Please help us show flooded families in Calgary how much we care and help us raise $1.2 Million during the month of July. Your $1 donation will be more than a Drop in the Bucket.
