So it began...
My name is Ira. I met ecommunity's founder, Dani Kogan, at an annual festivity at the President's Residence in Jerusalem, Israel. He'd created an ecologic and social company - recycling electronics while employing the special needs population - where his special needs son might one day work. Dani's innovative thinking inspired me; when I offered to be his English speaking representative for the U.S., he said, "As a matter of fact, I've been looking for someone just like that...."
Did you know...?
• Today, e-waste is being produced faster than it's being handled
• e-waste poses a direct challenge to the well-being of our air and water supply
• Improperly handled e-waste is toxic
• This local, national and international challenge is only beginning to be managed in a sustainable, systematic way
• The special needs population often bring an easily misunderstood gift of insight and patience
• When unseen and unheard, special needs individuals find it difficult to integrate with our fast paced society and often find themselves relegated into stark, costly dependency
ecommunity helps:
• ecommunity helps by providing the special needs community gainful, dignified employment in a safe, controlled and fun environment
• Instead of what could be lifetime care-taking costs of $3 million per individual, they become stable, happy adults who can provide for their own needs
• ecommunity employees have shown to exemplify a working tolerance, wisdom and vision in society
• Electronic waste is converted from a hazardous ecological burden, to an effective therapeutic medium for the special needs society and a teaching tool for society as a whole
• ecommunity collects e-waste from over 2000 contributors in Israel, including Coca Cola, Visa and Microsoft
but we need you...
ecommunity is an expanding social business. Started in 2008, ecommunity is financially viable, with visionaries at the helm who maintain the company goal to improve society's economy, ecology and social fabric. This model is duplicatable for communities and countries worldwide. Do we need more...? Sure. Additional operating capital builds our workforce, enhances our business model and helps us increase our breadth and quality of programs like EcoArt & EcoTunes.
In the green hills of the Galilee, we are building a global industrial park and residential village with an international educational and tourism center. It will be run by and for the special needs population. Every financial step brings this Center closer to fruition. The village will provide a haven for special needs families and educators to acquire optimum futures of contribution, collaboration, vibrancy and productivity.

The Impact
"In the beginning there was nothing. God said, 'Let there be light!' And there was light.
There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better."
-Ellen DeGeneres
Okay - so granted, we're not God, but we're starting something here - a world... . And by partnering with ecommunity, you get to be a part of that creation - any amount you can contribute would be so appreciated. Also, I believe it's instantly rewarding... just knowing that you're contributing to a more balanced planet, brings a sense of inner peace: greater clarity and insight in your personal endeavors.
