Overview
Ethiopia Skate Campaign was an effort to invite the world community of skateboarders to help create Ethiopia's first public skatepark. Though we didn't reach the goal, this campaign connected us to the world and ultimately lead to the construction of the Addis Skatepark in April, 2016.

Update (2016):

We are excited to announce that we completed the construction of Addis Skatepark, Ethiopia's first public skatepark in April, 2016!  This project was in collaboration with Make Life Skate Life, a non-profit organization that builds free-of-charge community skateparks worldwide. Volunteer builders from over 20 countries joined our team in Addis Ababa Thank you to all of the people who believed in us!

Original Campaign (2013):

The Basics

Ethiopia Skate started as a peer group of young skaters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It has grown into a grassroots community of many different backgrounds which hosts skate sessions around Addis Ababa and gives access to gear. We just want to skate.

National Skateboard Campaign

If we raise enough funds, we plan to build Ethiopia's first public skatepark- a place for kids to learn more about themselves and eachother. We will pass out at least 100 skateboards to youth and organizations as well as start manufacturing our own decks. This is only the beginning.

Ethiopia's First Skatepark

We are asking the world community to help us spark the fire that is skateboarding in Ethiopia. In addition to this international campaign we will also be getting local sponsors so that skateboarding can grow more rapidly in our country. We will post updates every step of the way so that you can be sure your money is spent wisely. We are working with a German organization called Make Life Skate Life on construction planning and development.

If we do not reach our goal, we will build whatever features we can afford at a public youth-center and save any remaining funds to be put toward the final project.
