THE FILM
Official Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1kW9Ra3VrM
Eventide is a short, surreal
horror film written and co-directed by Tim Busovsky and produced and
co-directed by Steph Burke. It is the first film made under our production
company, Pensive Penguin Pictures. A throwback to old-school horror with
influences from Italian cinema, Eventide is a project that we believe will fit
into many genres; not just as a horror film but also as a surreal film, a
thriller, and a drama.
Eventide is the story of a woman
who is woken up in the middle of the night by a mysterious phone call only to
find herself stalked by a strange entity in her own home. She carefully moves through the house,
attempting to escape impending terrors both inside and out.
Pre-production for this film
began in January of this year after our writer, Tim Busovsky, penned the first draft of the script. After
months of putting together our experienced crew, finding equipment, scouting
locations, and casting the lead actress, we finally rolled cameras on the
project in July, filming over a span of three days in downtown Philadelphia,
Germantown, Mount Airy, Spring City, and Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. This
project means a lot to us. All of us
hold full time positions but devoted our free time to working on the film. Our goal was to create something beautiful
and unique with a group of hard working, creative individuals that could appeal
to a wide variety of audiences and we believe that we have done it.
THE CREW
Tim Busovsky Screenwriter/Co-Director/Executive Producer/Composer
Tim Busovsky has been shooting movies for most of his
life. Early on, he learned how to use
his family’s VHS camcorder and was always fascinated with film as a means of
storytelling. He also discovered his
love of horror, science fiction, and surrealism as a kid, often mixing and
mashing various genres together in short movies in order to create unique
experiences for viewers. Tim also
started writing music and playing various instruments at a young age. He has taught himself to play guitar,
trumpet, piano (poorly), tuba, and a recently-acquired theremin. Working on Eventide has given him the opportunity to combine this assortment
of creative passions into one project which he hopes will help him get some
girl’s number in the coming year.
Steph Burke Co-Director/Producer/Editor
Steph Burke is a freelance Multimedia Assistant. She has been working with video for over a
decade, honing her skills in all areas of production through many different
jobs. From running the control board in Phoenixville Area High School's
television studio to assistant editing for documentary filmmakers, she is
always keeping busy. In 2010, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Film and
Video from The Pennsylvania State University, where she helped run The Student
Film Organization as Public Relations chair, and later, Vice President. Since,
she has gained speed in managerial roles, from being a Producer's Assistant to
being an Assistant Director on the
independent feature film, Bodies. In
Steph's free time, she still can't detach her from film and tv – she's either
writing screenplays, getting lost on Netflix, or watching another Coen
Brothers' movie for the umpteenth time.
Joseph Snow Associate Producer
Joseph Snow is a native of Philadelphia and a former
Film/Video student at Pennsylvania State University. Having become a fan of
filmmaking at a very young age, he has spent much of his life educating himself
in the art of film production, dabbling in screenwriting, film criticism, and
editing. During his time at Penn State, he worked on many student films,
including assistant directing “Choices”, by Steph Burke and starring Tim
Busovsky . After studying Film as well as Media Studies at Penn State, Joseph
moved back to Philadelphia and began work as an Intern and Production Assistant
for Get Kinetic, a film production/tech rental company that produces short
films, corporate videos, music videos and television commercials. Currently,
Joseph is working towards a bright future in independent film production,
hoping to use his experience to contribute to the future of Pensive Penguin
Pictures.

Philadelphia Area. With more than 15 Director of Photography credits that range
from Short Films to Commercials and Corporate work, he is well versed in the

collaborate with other filmmakers. Grant is proud to be a part of Eventide and

areas. He specializes in camera, grip and electric work. He is Production Lead
and Co-Founder of Boy Astronaut Film & Image, a video production company in
Reading, PA that creates branded documentaries for local businesses. On the

he can't get it out.

raised in Southern New Hampshire, but always longed to be involved in the world
of Film and TV. In 2008 she moved to Philadelphia to attend The University of

receive a Cosmetology Certificate. She's taken numerous roles in Screenwriting,
Art Direction, Makeup, and Special Effects. She plans to get more deeply
involved with Special Effects and always keep writing and making people look
fabulous.
Jim Hurley Special Effects
Two years into the film program at Penn State, Jim rediscovered his childhood obsession of making flipbooks. he quickly found himself surrounded by piles of paper and getting lost in a world of hand-drawn animation. while continuing to work on several hand-drawn projects, his curiosity and tinkering spirit led him to 3D animation, motion graphics, and special effects. Since graduating in 2010, Jim has been doing various types of freelance work in animation, photography and videography around Bucks County. Most of the time Jim can be found in his basement huddled over his animation table or getting uncomfortably close to the computer monitor in an attempt to get things juuust right; but occasionally he has been known to wander the woods with his ipod furiously air-drumming.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?
We’re currently in the post-production stage of the film,
balancing our busy professional lives as well as working diligently on this
project in our free time. Most of our time working on the film is spent putting
together the final cut of the film and planning the early stages of promotion.
At this point, we’re deep into editing, sound mixing, finalizing ditigital effects, and scoring of
the film. We’re almost ready to begin submitting our film to a number of
festivals around the country. The money donated to this project will help us
cover the costs of our entry fees as well as the payments we’ve made to our
cast and crew, food, transportation, equipment, and allother expenses from our
production.
WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING
With your contributions, we will be able to put our hard
work out into the world, using most of the funds gained for festival entry
fees. With careful planning, we have plotted out a year-long course for
entrances into independent film festivals. Eventide
is a short that will not only appeal to judges at events solely for horror, but
also for experimental and drama genres. With the help provided by you, we will
also be able to afford any promotional material necessary for a press kit
required by most festivals.
Many of our cast and crew members worked for free on a
deferred contract, or by donating equipment they would normally charge for to
make ends meet. In addition to putting any funding towards festivals, we will
be using your donations to honor their contracts.
Any little bit counts. Please help us get our film off of
the ground and into as many festivals as possible!
OTHER HELP
We could AWAYS use support through email and social media.
The more followers we get on Twitter and Facebook, the more fans, followers,
and potential backers we may get. Through these means, it’ll be easier to spread
the word about this project and any future projects coming from Pensive Penguin
Pictures. Any help we can get is greatly appreciated!
