Absolutely Fabulous

A good kart game - the kind that you always love to play, that tempts you with a quick race against friends even years after you bought it - is always a balanced mix of four different ingredients: speed, simplicity, competition, mayhem. If it has these four things in the right proportion, then it's basically endless fun.
With Fable Kart we want to get this magic cocktail really precisely right.
Old and New
We are currently developing the game for PC, and we are hoping to convert it at least for Android. If the fundraising goes very well, we want to convert it for iOS devices too.
In many ways, Fable Kart is a traditional title, because, like they say, we are all dwarves standing on the shoulders of giants. So the gameplay has many of the elements you would expect: it's easy to jump into a quick race, it's very fast, there are bonuses and boosts to pick up on the track, you can interact with other players, slow them down etc. All the classic things you usually do in a game of karts. We are working hard to place them properly and tune them, so there is never a dull moment during the race.

But we are also adding quite some new stuff that we hope you will find interesting.
The first area we focused on is the multiplayer - and that should go without saying, because kart games are all about multiplayer, single player is usually not very interesting. In fact, single player is usually more of a chore than anything else, something that you have to go through in order to unlock something.
So we actually scrapped the single player entirely. The game is only multiplayer. There is still a story mode, but it is built on a points system: you race against other humans, you gain points and based on that you advance the storyline. Unlockables work in the same way, you gain points, you unlock stuff.

As for how actual races works, here is where things should get interesting: we have a few ideas that will spice up things nicely and separate Fable Kart from past titles. However we don't want to disclose them just yet, partly because they are many and we are still checking what works and what doesn't, and to be honest also because we really like these ideas, we think they are actually innovative, and it's too soon to tell everything:). But, it is safe to say that we focused quite a lot on teamwork - so there will be game modes where you need to cooperate with other players to make it to the top.
In terms of interactions between different karts, the idea was that they should create proper mayhem, and foster even more the competition. So we focused on power-ups that tend to disrupt the race of others in rather spectacular ways, rather than, say, bonuses that simply make you go faster.

All this happens in the world of Aesop's fables, and the characters are his famous animals, such as the Fox, the Lion, etc. Here is a quick synopsis: Aesop's gets frustrated because nowadays no one is listening to the moral of his stories, so he rips the pages of his book and scatter them to the winds. When the animals hear of what he did, they are shocked and horrified, and they run around to recover the pages. The one that will recover the most pages will gain the most credit with Master Aesop (who now regrets his desperate gesture).
And that's pretty much that. The graphic look is fluffy and cute, but not too much, we don't want cheesie.

The Pot of Gold
What is the single thing that a multiplayer-only kart game really needs in order to be properly fun? Why, a big community, of course. And that’s where the IndieGoGo campaign becomes important. Basically, our campaign is set with the idea of building the community before the game is released, since almost all the perks include one, or more, or many copies of the game.
In short: if you contribute with at least five euros AND we reach our objective, not only you will have a copy of the game, but you will also be sure that there will be a good number of people with the same game, ready to play with you - sort of a pre-built community.
On the other hand, if we don’t reach the objective, you will get your money back, since the campaign is set on fixed. So you can’t go wrong with your contributions, really:)
Plus, the more people contribute, the more content will be present in the game, the more polished will be the whole thing and the bigger will be the community. The steps we have set are these:
50.000 euros->The game is completed!
65.000 euros->The game is completed with additional content: extra tracks, extra characters.
80.000 euros->The game is completed with more additional content: tracks, characters, game modes.
100.000 euros->The game is completed with all the extra stuff and is converted to Android.
We actually want to convert the game even if we don’t reach the 100k mark; but in that case it will definitely take more time. We should also mention that we are always open to suggestions and discussions, so feel free to contact us via our website and throw on the table your ideas on how the perfect kart game should be!
