The film places a special emphasis on the importance of mental and physical wellbeing in children. Through candid interviews and beautiful performance, the documentary explores how participation in dance and the arts positively impacts young people's mental health, providing them with a creative outlet, building self-esteem, and fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Filming has already taken place but we need your help to fund the post production process!
As a female filmmaker with an eye for emotional storytelling, I was invited to an amateur dance school to document the challenges and triumphs of staging a large-scale show. There were over 100 performers aged from 3yrs to 60yrs who took part. Plus an army of volunteers and chaperones that worked together to create a stunning show! I was captivated by their passion but also their collective drive to support one another, especially as some of the older girls prepare for their final performance before heading to university.
I really do believe that this story is worth telling.
Here's a sneak peak, demonstrating the dance teacher's passion as she describes working with her students.
