Thanks so much:)
I'm going to give thanks in advance because I really believe in this story. My name is Kate Thompson and I have a background in theatre, acting, directing, song writing and as a performing artist, but I am also a mother of thirteen children. I never intended to adopt nine children, but, they came two, by two, literally. We have three sets of twins who have kept me very busy. Then, we are asked to get in the middle of a broken adoption of a young man, who we knew had very large issues.
Cutting this story short, he ended up back in his native country, illegally, and was sent back to starvation, and primitive conditions that were extremely hard for a young person who had been raised in the United States for the last four or five years of his life.
He didn't speak his native language, and was not educated in climbing co-conut trees, or catching fish with his bare hands to survive. Then, add a dose of maleria, some bugs cut out of his feet with sharpened bamboo, not once but three times, and Friday was sure he was not equipped to survive the interior of Liberia.
Over the last sixteen years I have seen many cases of child abuse, and neglect. We have fostered over 50 children, and I am an avid advocate of what I call the "Lost" children. This story needs to be told and I hope and pray you will help me publish this story to raise awareness on this painful subject.
What I Need & What You Get
I have done the research and to get this book total design, which includes art work for covers, editing, layout and marketing it's gonna be about $4,500. Then there are reviews for the book, which I found out cost a few bucks or so. Just kidding, more than a few bucks! Then there is the cost of setting up E-books and downloads for Kindle, Nook and IPad. And on top of that, I need hard copies to be able sell when hopefully (you!) will engage me to speak, and give a concert at the venue of your choice. House concerts are fun guys!! I will also be giving away downloads of my CD "Broken Hearts And Broken Wings"
I think I am being conservative in my efforts, but every dollar will go towards this book, the marketing, book signings and help with finances to get me to places to speak about this emerging problem in the world.
How you can make an impact
The only way to make an impact in this rising issue of child abuse and neglect, especially in children who come from such extreme circumstances to begin with, is to get involved. I know that everyone can't adopt or foster a child, but you can get personal and support this story and it's telling. I have independently produced three cd's, one recently available with TATE Music, and have another book "Is Eight Enough" available through Amazon, and I am very passionate about the release of "Finding Friday".
I know that it isn't always easy to contribute financially, but please could you share this with your friends. This treatment of children has to stop and this is another way you can get personally involved.
