We love Shakespeare!
At Fourth Room Theatre in Iowa City, we have all been in love with Shakespeare for a long time. Many of us were inspired to love theater, in part, because of community groups or production companies who put massive time and effort into free productions of the Bard for their communities.
And we love FREE things!
The Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park, NYC; Shakespeare on the Green in Omaha, NE; The People's Shakespeare Project in southeastern Pennsylvania - only a few examples of excellent Shakespeare productions offered free to the public that have personally inspired us.
We feel it's time to bring this powerful approach to theater to Eastern Iowa, and we need your help!
Ticket sales are important, don't get us wrong...
Theater can't always be free and we are well aware that ticket sales and subscriber bases are extremely important. Space, lights, sound equipment, costumes, weapons rental, royalties, choreography and a dozen other necessities vie for hard-earned dollars and time in any theatrical production.
But a free production every year...imagine
A free production can help bring new audiences to theater - and that means new audiences to ALL theater in the area.
We are a community based, non-paying theater company and we want to make a difference in our community. One of the ways we want to do that is by providing a production of Cymbeline (and future annual Shakespearean productions) totally FREE to our community.
Please help us make this dream a reality!
Thank you,
Fourth Room Theatre
