Frequency Fridays is a performance series featuring sound artists,
experimental and electronic musicians, and instrument inventors.
Our flagship program, Frequency Fridays, is in its fourth year and I am proud to say that this year's program is our strongest yet! A project grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council has allowed us to begin our 2013-2014 season with a bang. Your matching donation will enable us to complete the season and feature nineteen amazing experimental musicians and sound artists from Columbus to Chicago to California at our April, May, and June events. These artists and musicians include: Vic Rawlings, Al Margolis & Tom Hamilton, Anna Friz, Brett Burleson & Ryan Jewell, HOT DATE (Shayna Dulberger & Chris Welcome), C Lavender, Brian Labycz, Circuitry Room (Jeff Chenault, Dan Rockwell, & Andrew Izold), Phillipe Petit, James Connolly, Truus de Groot, FBK (Kevin Kennedy), and Plural (James Johnson).
Our goal is to raise $4000, which will be used entirely for these quality artists' performance fees and travel expenses. And did I mention rewards for your donation? There are tangible rewards: for $25, you can see your name in print in a special playbill we will be distributing at our April, May, and June shows. For $35 you can get a limited edition Projectil or Full Load of King CD, Truus de Groot's Salton Sea CD, or a X A M B U C A patch. $50 will nab you a Fuse Factory or Exoteque Music t-shirt, and a $75 donation will get you a custom magnet poetry kit. Local artist/musician Michael Alan Cundiff has crafted a special reward for those who donate at the $100 and $250 levels: an electronic kalimba for $100 donors and an electronic gopichand for a very lucky $250 donor.
There are intangible (but no less real) rewards for donating as well. In addition to shaping the cultural landscape of central Ohio by adding to its vitality, you are supporting artists who humanize technology in ways that are playful, thought provoking, and often sublime. You are also helping us democratize technology by supporting our efforts to give the general public opportunities to personally interact with our artists and their tools, machines, and handmade instruments.
We are so grateful that you recognize the worth of our Frequency Fridays performers' work! With your good support, we can continue to bring these innovative artists to Columbus so they can inspire, delight, and entertain.
Thanking you in advance for your generous demonstration of help!
And even if you can't donate, it's ok - we still love you :) If you want
to help us spread the word about this campaign, that will make us so very happy :) Thank you so very much for supporting our experimental
music community!
