Wow, thanks so much for your contributions - we have hit our mark! On to the festival! Keep checking www.freshlysqueezedfest.com for latest news on how we are doing!
Short Summary
We are a group of passionate young film buffs and filmmakers who understand the industry and wish to help other young aspiring filmmakers to pursue their dreams.
Freshly Squeezed was created last year with an emphasis on cultural diversity and giving insight to film education in different cultures. We aim to provide new filmmakers a platform to showcase their work but also to provide valuable feedback. Last year we had feedback sessions after each film slot where guests from the Irish film industry such as Brendan Culleton, Se Merry Doyle and the festival audience discussed the films.
We also offer a platform for local media students and graduates to gain industry knowledge by providing Q&A sessions and a networking brunch with notable local media experts. Last year we hosted Edwina Forkin from Zanzibar Films, Robert Cullen from Boulder Media, Peter Robertson and staff from Jam Media and Brown Bag. We established a very warm and relaxed atmosphere with great audience participation – something that we would very much like to build on in 2013.
What We Need & What You Get
We need to gather the sum of 1700 Euros to be able to put on this unique event free of charge for our core audience of students and burgeoing media professionals. Your investment will go towards following areas:
- Venue (Sugar Club)
- Production and Postage of our Trophies
- Catering for our Networking brunch
- Volunteer expenses such as Transport and Meals
- Stationary for postage; press releases and Medias (DVDs) for the Screening
In return for your support and as a symbol of our gratitude, we will not only put on a great show, but also give you a reward! Our perks are gifts tailored with you in mind. Have a look on the right hand side of this page for more information.
In case we do not reach our entire goal, we will still receive part of the funds, where 13% is fairly commissioned by Indiegogo. We will prioritise our Venue and Trophies and liaise with our existing partners for further support for the Networking session and Volunteer expenses. However, if we gather more than our initial target, we plan to introduce a band or a DJ to our closing ceremony as well as reimburse the flight tickets of some of our international guests (such as the shortlisted film directors and international industry experts).
The Impact
If you are an established filmmaker or are working your way into the business, you know how hard it is to get noticed. The first few steps are the most exciting but also the most difficult ones on the way to success, where professional guidance and support are invaluable.
As a student-orientated non-profit event, we might not be able to grant the winners with equipment or cash incentives, but in our opinion, our awards go much further than that! We believe in recognition and we want these great films to be seen by the wider audience, and that is why we award the best films with distribution deals and promotional campaigns.
In partnership with Access Cinema, we have secured an amazing distribution campaign for our New Talent Award from last year, You Shall Not Leave The Way, which is currently being distributed throughout Ireland. This year, we have mantained this partnership and extended it to our new prize The Best of Irish Award.
Furthermore, our partners are our greatest supporters and for that reason we ask you to be part of this project.
