Introduction:

A preemptive happy holidays everyone, I am James Steller, a senior in the Film and Media Production major at Arizona State University. For my senior (capstone) project, I’ll be directing and producing a short film about the evil origin of Frosty the Snowman. Seeking a career in the Visual Effects Industry, my plan is to use CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) to create FROST-E, much the same way as Gollum was in Lord of The Rings

Since this is my senior project this movie is going to be produced irregardless of my budget, which is quite limited. This is why I am joining the Flexible Funding Campaign. My stretch goal is $10,000 but the more money we can raise, the better this film will be able to be. Also, by donating you can have your pick of some of the Steller prizes on the right.

Synopsis:

When a secret government project breaks loose (FROST-E escapes), they turn to the only man who can help; Major Paul Jansen. Set in the late 1940s, this story documents what some believe to be the actual origins of the Frosty the Snowman myth. Filled with action, suspense and a hint of comedy, consider this to be a Christmas film in the vein of Michael Bay and Quentin Tarantino.

Why We Need your Help:

Arizona State University provides only basic equipment for completing these films. This include lights, some costumes, and assorted camera equipment. What that means is to make this film stand out and look as good as possible, we will be relying on your generous donations.

Your contributions will go towards important things like paying for equipment rentals the school doesn’t supply (such as lenses, jibs, cranes, etc...), unique and custom costumes, a set to fit the concept of a rogue Frosty the Snowman, and of course food for our cast and crew to keep them happy. Other necessities include location fees such as permits, insurance and local taxes.

Most importantly however, my editor and I need to build a custom computer capable of handling the more intense post production work of this film. It takes a lot of power to do what we’re trying to accomplish. FROST-E himself, the 3D sets and all those little bits of Hollywood movie magic. Can someone say “earth shattering explosions”? Building a custom computer saves us hundred if not thousands in costs.

Paul watching FROST-E's demise.
