Our story
Hi, we're Molly and Tom. We run Game for the Cause, a board game charity convention. For the past four years, all of the money we've raised has gone to SafePlace, Austin's battered women's shelter.
I (Molly) am a volunteer at SafePlace. Ever since I started reading about sexually-trafficked and abused women and children, I haven't been able to stand aside while there was something that I could do. Turns out, there's something to do about it right here in our own town. And that's why I started this convention.
Now that the convention is getting bigger and bigger, we need to get a larger venue. It's going to cost us $3000. The more people we can accommodate, the more money we'll raise for SafePlace.
Supporting this fundraiser gets you entry to the convention. But that's not all. It helps us pay for the hotel space up front, ensuring we can fit more people comfortably. When you support now, you are helping us help SafePlace. And that's something I think we can all get behind.

We need $3000 for the hotel.
What You Get
When you support this campaign, you only pay $20 for the entrance fee, instead of the $30 at the door. Just show us your confirmation email at the door and you come right in.

If you can't attend but still want to donate, there is a Back It button that will let you donate without a specific reward tier.
If we don't reach our entire goal, we will still put all of the funds raised toward the hotel.
The Impact
SafePlace helps families in Austin, TX. I can't put a price on your donations. When you come and play games and have fun, you're simultaneously helping take in a survivor of sexual or domestic violence. Your involvement means everything to a person looking for help.
Risks & Challenges
There are always challenges to running a crowdfunding campaign, and running a small convention. But we've been running Game for the Cause for four years, and have raised and donated over $20,000 for SafePlace. We're excited to keep offering them help and support. With your help, we're more than ready to meet these challenges.
