Short Summary
In February of 2012, an enterprising young comics fan named Hannah found herself wishing for a community where she could talk to other awesome women about shared nerdy loves. Thus, Ladies' Night at Graham Cracker Comics was born!
A year later, and we are putting together an anthology that features original comics, art, and prose from more than twenty contributors. Consider it a love letter to the city that brought us all together, and a coup for the independent creatives community that's growing all over the world.
What We Need & What You Get
To make all this awesomeness happen, we need a some cash on hand to print the book and some amazing original artwork in the form of prints and buttons. Your contribution to our $1000 goal will help us with:
- First run print
- Hundreds of buttons and prints to send to our campaign contributors and sell along with the book.
- Marketing online and in person at events like C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo) and Free Comic Book Day.
- A second volume of the anthology.
That's right...any money left over will contribute to starting up a second volume of the anthology--all of our contributors are volunteering their time and talent.
So check out our awesome perks! Contribute at any level and you get the PDF of the full anthology, but there's a bunch of amazing swag and art that is available. We're even taking advertisers to help defer the cost of printing.
International supporters PLEASE NOTE: if you need to ship internationally, please add $10 to your contribution.
(If you contribute and your perk includes a button or print, you will be given an option of which of our varient three pieces of original artwork you would like to receive.)
The Impact
We all know that women and other minorities are grossly under-represented in mainstream comics. The success of Womanthology last year proved that this doesn't need to be the case! Whether you exclusively read superhero titles from the Big Two or you're an avid webcomic fan, every fan wants a place to feel like they belong, surrounded by other enthusiasts. Our goal is to create an (ongoing) anthology that features the amazing talents of women who love comics in every form they come in, and the much-needed diversity that they have to offer to the industry.
Let's show the big guys how it's done.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't contribute monetarily at this time, please help us spread the word! We have a Facebook page and a website to tell you more about GCC Ladies' Night and our awesome community of readers.
Regardless, we hope to see you at our next Ladies' Night!
