Two for the price of one!
Hello, for those of you who don't know Lucy Sheen, she is a British East Asian Artists. Lucy has been working as an actor for thirty years in the UK. In that time Lucy has been fortunate enough to have worked with the likes of Dame Helen Mirren (Prime Suspect, The Queen, Hitchcock), Eamonn Walker (Oz, Chicago Fire), Alexander Siddig (Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Primeval) Pam Ferris (Call The Midwife, Harry Potter, Matilda, Children of Men), Kathryn Hunter (Kafka's Monkey, Harry Potter, All Or Nothing) and Sir Ian Holm (The Aviator, Lord Of The Rings, Hobitt, The Day After Tomorrow) and more recently Benedict Wong (Chimerica, The Arrest of Ai Weiwei, Hummingbird, Prometheus, Sunshine, The Lady) and Hattie Morahan ( A Dolls House, Plenty, Outnumbered, The Golden Compass) to name but a few.
Lucy needs to raise a minimum of £1690 but obviously anything over that total would be even amazing.
In November 2011 Lucy premièred her first solo theatre piece,
THERE ARE TWO PERFECTLY GOOD ME's: One dead, the other unborn
a dramatised account of a transracial adoptee's experience of growing up in 60s pre-multicultural UK. A search for identity, belonging and coming to terms with who and what she is. This show has now been further developed. It is bolder, blacker, more darkly humorous, with it's tongue still firmly in its cheek.
All that is missing is you, an audience.
ICU a new two hander starring Hugo Trebels (Dreamers, I Am Yours Now performed in NY, Steampunk Opium Wars, Jonathan Creek, Basic Instinct 2) is one of the actors that will be showcasing this piece.
ICU will also be going to NY prior to it's show case in London at The Kings Head
Love is never simple, why do we form relationships? Companionship, love, lust or does some other impetus drive us?
In the UK for the first time in over thirty years industry professionals, participants and audiences are now recognising that British East Asian Artists have hitherto been side-barred, ignored and generally discriminated against to the point of becoming almost invisible.
Support this campaign and you will be supporting diversity, encouraging the growth and advancement of the arts in the UK and true inclusivity. If art mimics life then we need all of the players to be accurately represented and that includes British East Asians.

The Impact
When is the last time that you saw an British East Asian on a UK, London stage? It's quite a rare thing and even though recently there has been a small "explosion" of plays that have centred around Chinese/East Asian themes and characters not one of these offerings has been written by a British East Asian - yet - that's coming very soon to The Ovalhouse in the fiendish gusie of The Fu Manchu Complex a new satrical play written by Daniel York Loh. We need more EA writers and we need to see their work on UK stages
• Support this campaign you'll be supporting not only the arts and new writing but
• Diversity and Equality something that has been woefully lacking when it comes to British East Asian Artists.
There Are Two Perfectly Good Me's will also be used to help generate income and more funds for future writing projects which Lucy already has in the pipeline
Lucy already has over thirty years of professional experience as an actor.
"If I want to see the UK cultural landscape include more East Asian Artists and give a voice to a section of society that is usually silent, ignored or more often than not caricatured or racially stereotyped then I and others have to start doing. Wiith your help I can".
It's been said that acting is the easy part, it's getting the opportunities to act which is the difficult bit. Support this campaign you'll be helping to create opportunities. You will be helping to knock down the barriers
