Short Summary

Hello everyone! 

Growing up in Long Beach instilled an interest in engaging and observing active lifestyles. I have a passion for sports + outdoor activities, and am dedicated to documenting its progression. I have an extensive background in traditional photographic techniques, and hope to bring this knowledge to my professional practice. I recently switched from the Photography program to the Arts + Design Education program to help others further their interests.  I have sacrificed my opportunity to have a Senior thesis show with Pratt's photo department, but would still like to showcase my years of undergraduate work.  As a graduating senior in my last semester, I would say that the education I received has prepared me to establish myself as a photographer and educator. I fortunately was able to acquire a space to showcase some of my recent work + a collection I completed in 2013. The location is close in proximity to Pratt, a great local bar, and one of my personal favorites. The Emerson in Clinton Hill has graciously offered their wonderful space for my own graduation solo exhibition! (This show will be the first two weeks of may and my last send off to my graduation May 16th!)

El nombre es Giovanni Cárdenas, yo nací y crecí en Long Beach , California y me estoy preparando para graduarse de Pratt Institute en Nueva York.
Creció en Long Beach inculcó el interés por participar y observar los estilos de vida activos. Tengo una pasión por los deportes + actividades al aire libre , y estoy dedicado a documentar su progresión. Tengo una amplia experiencia en las técnicas fotográficas tradicionales , y espero poder llevar este conocimiento a mi práctica profesional. Recientemente he pasado por el programa de Fotografía con el programa de Arte + Diseño Educación para ayudar a otros avanzar en sus intereses . He sacrificado mi oportunidad de tener un espectáculo de Tesis mayor con el departamento de fotografía de Pratt , pero aún así desea mostrar mis años de estudios universitarios . Como mayor de graduación en mi último semestre, yo diría que la educación que recibí me ha preparado para establecerme como un fotógrafo y educador. Yo , afortunadamente, pude adquirir un espacio para mostrar un poco de mi trabajo reciente + una colección que terminé en 2013 . El espacio está cerca en la proximidad de Pratt, un gran bar local, y uno de mis favoritos personales. El Emerson en Clinton Hill ha ofrecido amablemente su espacio maravilloso para mi propia graduación exposición individual ! ( Este espectáculo será las primeras dos semanas de mayo i  mi última enviarme a mi graduación 16 de mayo !)

What We Need & What You Get

What it takes to curate a show and what your wonderful donations will go towards:

• Printing- Thats done by me, free of charge!
• Paper - The shows require two different paper types. One for the exhibition and paper for your 5x7's $200
• Framing & Matting - (My largest expense...) $350
• Show advertising & Take away promotional materials-$160 
• Transportation of prints $50
• Shipping Costs $100

****this is a flexible raising plan so I will be able to use whatever I raise so every donation matter and will be reflected in the presentation and a list of contributors will be placed in the Exhibition

The Impact

What your contributions are also going towards!

• Well first and foremost, this will have the greatest impact on me, not only will this be my first solo show, this will help validate all the work I have put in over the years at Pratt, it will be a show in where I am able to display some of the work that drives me to keep taking photographs everyday. It's public and in a high traffic area! (Who doesn't love coming to a bar and seeing some great photographs? and Sports photos at that?!)
• It will make a huge difference in my final presentation, I'm graduating college, and I truly wish to represent myself as a professional.  
• And lastly your contribution will impact the local NYC Art scene by providing a unique perspective + a collection of photographs to share with everyone!
