Hi, I'm Harriet Levi. For 21 years I taught at Clark College in Vancouver, retired in 2000 and re-imaged myself as a practicing professional artist. I have developed a large series (4 feet square) of paintings going back to my Jewish roots and I am taking them to the People's Art Center in Ningbo China for a solo show, along with 20 other paintings. I was invited by the Ningbo Municipal Cultural center to show there this March. Unfortunately I did not get the highly competitive grant I had applied for and I need help for my transportation and shipping costs. I cannot let them down now, I keep my promises, but I would like to stay out of debt and still keep this promise. Can you help me? Any small amount will help.
My air fare is $820 and the shipping costs are approximately $600. I will also have to pay for food and lodging.
If you contribute $15 or more I will send you 3 of my art cards. If you contribute $35 or more, I will send you a 20 page book of my new paintings and pictures of my opening in China. If you send $50 or more I will send a matted print of any of the work on my website. I will send the perks after I return and make the book.
If I don't make the goal, I will still go, but every bit will help reduce my debt. If I make more than my goal, that's great, as my expenses are more than $1000..
The Impact
This invitation came out of a desire to strengthen the friendship bonds between China and the United States. They were also excited to have a mature artist with my life experiences come to their city for a unique experience.
