Welcome to GOOD NIGHT NOODLE- the next Good Food concept.
Welcome to an Asian noodle soup café designed to satisfy the appetites of customers and friends here at home, while sustaining a rural village thousands of miles away. Welcome to Good Night Noodle where a bowl of pho feeds the body and nourishes the soul.
Our Story
Nancy Holzman opened Good Morning Café in January 2013 in Ballston Spa, New York, as a go-to breakfast destination for health conscious consumers looking for fresh, nutritious and locally-sourced food. As part of our mission to provide good food to good people, Good Morning has a give-back business model that includes a 5 for 5 charitable initiative—5 cents from select menu items
are deposited directly into accounts benefitting various causes on the local and global scale. One of these beneficiaries is the Cambodian village of Poysomroung.
This past November, Good Morning Café held a fundraising dinner featuring authentic pho noodle soup, a Southeast Asian delicacy, to benefit the village. It was an overwhelming philanthropic success while at the same time
introduced customers to the tantalizing taste of pho. A pho fan club was instantly born as the demand for the same Good Morning-quality food in a dinner venue became apparent...which brings us to Good Night Noodle.
In one night, we raised enough funds to purchase 5 tons of rice, hundreds of pounds of soy sauce, rice noodles, pencils and composition books for 650 school children. The direct impact of modest customer contributions yielded profound results and bolstered the desire to do more. With the creation of Good Night Noodle, each night we are open, we can provide our community with delicious, healthy, ethnic cuisine while at the same time helping our friends in Poysomroung with our bowl for bowl philanthropic model.

While our primary goal is to provide the freshest, healthiest, tastiest food available, we are also sincerely committed to encouraging initiatives that support healthy living, sustainability and caring for others. To that end, we are excited to present our bowl for bowl Direct Impact Giving model-DIG. For each bowl of pho served at Good Night Noodle, we will purchase approximately one pound of rice for Poysomroung Village, our adopted community in Cambodia. One pound of rice will feed a Cambodian family of four for an entire day.

Our Poysomroung Connection
Poysomroung (POY-SAHM-RAHNG) is the ancestral home to the Sams, a
local family who moved to Ballston Spa in 1982. Refugees from the
horrific Khmer Rouge, Sien and Sophann Sam resettled in the United States.
Sadly, they had to leave many family members behind in Poysomroung, where every day is a struggle for survival.
Like many rural communities in Cambodia, the war
years left a lasting impression on daily existence. Poverty, illness, poor education and corruption are
commonplace. In recent years, the effects of global warming have
dramatically affected farming, the main income and food source for the village.
Excessive droughts and floods have destroyed crops and created unpredictable
growing seasons, resulting in a community on the brink of starvation.
Nancy Holzman, owner of Good Morning Café and a
friend of the Sams, was moved by the plight of the villagers—individuals who
had already endured so much tragedy. A professional fundraiser and
activist, Nancy has worked with the Sams in the past to coordinate a series of fundraising events to purchase desperately needed farm equipment and food for the
villagers.

Our most recent fundraising dinner held this past November at Good Morning Café was a tremendous success and inspired us to continue on our pho mission—providing the delicious bowls to our local dinner crowd while raising awareness and support for Poysomroung.

We are fortunate to have a
direct link to a relative of the Sams and a Poysumroung Village leader. There are no middlemen, overhead costs or operational expenses typically associated
with philanthropic initiatives of this nature. The money we raise is
wired directly and used to purchase immediate necessities.

With your help, we can launch Good Night Noodle and ensure a consistent lifeline for our Cambodian friends abroad. By maximizing the restaurant's space, our customers will be able to enjoy both breakfast and dinner with a philanthropic twist—fulfilling our mission to its highest potential. Can you DIG it?
Our Use of Funds Raiseds
- Improving the dining area for increased efficiency, volume and traffic flow to accommodate a shared day and evening business
- Upgrading electrical, lighting, heating and plumbing capacity
- Minor renovation to both exterior and interior décor
- Purchase of items specific to dinner service including refrigeration, dinnerware and appliances
- Fees for required permitting and insurance
Should we exceed our goal, we will be able to immediately purchase provisions for Poysomroung to alleviate hunger until Good Night Noodle is able to provide support on a regular basis. We will also be able to upgrade the kitchen to significantly increase efficiency with the purchase of new ranges, grills and ventilation systems.
THANK YOU
