Stretch Goal & Update 2013-09-16
To all of you who have donated to the Hacklab.to Is Moving campaign, we are grateful for your incredible support! Through your generosity we reached our original $2000 goal within the first 48 hours of the campaign, and we can see $4000 on the horizon.
There are still 21 days left in the campaign, and with the wind at our backs Hacklab.to would like to propose a new challenge in the form of a stretch goal: if we raise at least $6000, we will purchase a milling machine! The milling machine would be a great addition to our shop, and would allow us to make custom metal parts, such as new extrudes for our 3D printers. We could also make prototype Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in hours instead of waiting weeks. Combined with the lathe and drill press we already have, and some other donations we've already secured (table saw, pneumatic system), our battle-station will be Fully Operational. Errr, I mean, our shop will be fully equipped!
Please tell all your friends about Hacklab! Our indiegogo has already succeeded, but with your help in gettin the word out we can do even better.
Once again, we thank you for your support!

Thank you!
Thank you for helping us reach the goal! Help us keep this awesome momentum going! Every dollar will go toward hacking Hacklab.to into the hackiest hackerspace ever! Contribute to this unstoppable wave of success and tell your friends to join in too.
Hacklab.to is Moving
Hacklab.to is a growing community of makers, artists, computer programmers, web designers, and hardware hackers. Inspired by the philosophy of the global hackerspaces movement, we encourage the sharing of knowledge and collaboration on projects in our modest lab space in the heart of Toronto’s Kensington Market. Tuesday evening is our Open House when we welcome everybody to check us out, have a chat, and take the tour. This space has served our diverse membership well for the past five years, but we have outgrown our space and its capabilities, and it's time to move to a larger space.

We have signed a lease on an amazing new space literally next door from where we are currently located, providing three times the floor space for us to expand! What that means to Hacklab.to is room for more equipment, a wood and metal shop, a separate classroom / kitchen and room for more members! We're also excited about having a covered alley to park bikes in!

As you might imagine, moving can be quite expensive, and we are looking for your help. We are going to raise $2000+ in order to jumpstart the new space with furniture, equipment, and the bare essentials. Since we are moving to the adjacent unit, the true moving costs are minimal; and we already have internal pledges for operating expenses for the next year, so every dollar donated goes towards making Hacklab.to better.
What your contributions will mean to our members is a more comfortable and productive environment, to the greater Hacklab.to community it will mean the ability to hold additional free workshops, host meetups and expand membership without interrupting regular activities.
How Your Contributions Will Be Used
- Moving expenses include
- New tools and equipment for the shop and lab
- Tables, chairs and workbenches
- Volunteer inducements (all that muscling equipment demands food and refreshments)
- Kitchen appliances, pots and pans and dinnerware
Did You Say Swag?
- You won't find this artwork anywhere else. It was created JUST for this campaign!
- Sticker 4-pack featuring the new Hacklab.to logo!
- a pair of mugs featuring the new Hacklab.to logo!
- a t-shirt featuring the new Hacklab.to logo!
- And the BIG ticket item: Permanent recognition on a laser engraved donor recognition plaque to be prominently mounted in the new space!
