Our names are Jack Heekin and Tom O'Brian. We grew up in Cincinnati, and would love your help in opening a beer bar and growler to-go shop, in Cincinnati. 

In 2011, we started a small company in downtown Cincinnati called, ‘The Pedal Wagon’ and have been happily running tours for almost 2 years. It’s been an incredible ride, but we’ve had this pesky passion, which we just can’t shake.

Last December, with nothing but adventure in mind, we travelled 6429 miles; from home to California, California to New Orleans, New Orleans to New York, New York to home. On our journey, that passion reared it’s gorgeous head.

What stood out the most to us was the craft beer industry: an community full of creative, and most notably, passionate people. From there, we set out to create a venue that does them, and their devoted supporters, justice.

What is HalfCut, really?:

With HalfCut, our number one goal is to offer you the best lineup of local and rare beer in Cincinnati. That goal centers on two customer experiences: "to-go" beer, and "the beer parlor". No matter what experience you’re looking for, knowledgeable, beer-loving brewistas will help you at the counter, and walk you through the tap list and bottled beer offerings to make sure you find something you love.

To-Go: Come inside and indulge in the sampling process, or grab your beer to go at our 12th street pick-up window.

Growlers: Using the growler as a container gives you fresh, draft quality craft beer. Take it home, bring it to a party, down it before a business meeting… we don’t judge.

Mix-6 Packs: Mix-6 packs offer a tasty spread for the adventurous beer lovers out there.

Beer Parlor: Using inspiration from across this wonderful country, we’ve worked to craft the perfect space for you to imbibe. Come in for a couple drinks, and indulge in good conversation, and good company. You may just bump into a tap takeover, beer class, or sampling night.

We want to create a craft beer mecca, which shines light on the local and regional brewers, with you, the beer drinker, on the front of our mind.

Revamping a building constructed in 1884 has been full of surprises. Some of those surprises have put us in a position where we may have to compromise our vision. We don’t want to compromise… so here we are!

Larger Walk in Cooler

Downtown Cincinnati has a limited selection of “to-go” craft beer. Let’s change that…

A large walk in cooler means more space for us to fit a wider variety of bottled beer. With a larger cooler, you never have to have the same mix 6 pack or 22oz bomber.

Greater Cincinnati Area: If fully funded, we will deliver all gifts to you home on December 19th or December 20th for just $5. We will also post pickup hours if you'd rather come down to our location in OTR.

Halfcut was a slang term used in the 1920s to describe the state of mind you find yourself in after having a couple beers; that feeling of indulging in great conversation and being comfortable in your own shoes. We think being “HalfCut” is the perfect state of mind.

The Goat: 

 The goat symbolizes the curiosity that leads someone to journey “over the mountain”. Whether it be the novel experience of visiting somewhere new, or just tasting a new flavor of beer, it's all waiting to be discovered over the mountain.
