Who the heck is Honeychild
Hi it's SJ Ursrey, aka Honeychild. I've been making music in Athens, Georgia for over 15 years. I've played and toured with some seriously talented musicians (Dream Boat, Dark Meat, Creepy, Nanny Island, Chased By Bears, etc.). I have performed punk, R&B, psychedelic, rock, pop, folk, traditional, choral, & classical music. But my favourite genre is Tropical. I'm not sure that is a genre but it totally should be. I love to write and play songs about the beach and islands and deserts and the sea and stuff. One of my biggest dreams is to learn to surf. In fact, my yoga career is leading me to that, since yoga and surfing do go hand-in-hand. I teach yoga here in this awesome rock town, and at the end of every class, I sing and play one of my songs on the ukulele. I wasn't long into teaching before my super awesome students began asking for an album. And Honeychild was born. Obviously, I'm a little bit southern, and "Honeychild" has always been a favourite term of endearment of mine. I've been thinking for many years that if I ever did a solo project, that's what I'd call it. And here I am, making my first solo record! What!

What Kind of Record is this Anyway
I've been in the studio for a couple of months now, and what started out as just my voice and my ukulele, has now been graced by some truly amazing guest musicians (Page Campbell, Claire Campbell, Suny Lyons, Kris Deason, Rebekah Coulter) and has blossomed into my favourite record of all time. I am so excited to create and share this, and I need help to do so. If you will help me raise the dinero to produce this record, I will gladly share my skills and fun times with you. And of course the beautiful album itself, which is entitled American Beach. Any donation at all will be a huge help!
When the musician is ready, the album will come. So they say. Ok they don't say that but they say something very like that. The point is, I'm ready. This project, Honeychild, and it's first record, American Beach, is the beginning phase of a dream come true for me, and you're invited aboard, baby. In fact, there is already half an album of songs for the next great beach record. When you invest now, you're investing in a very bright future for dreamy tropical tunes from your very own Honeychild. It's so bright we better wear shades. Let's do this.

Where The Dough Goes
Thank goodness Page is on board. She's so smart. She and I broke the fundage down really nicely. Here is what we're paying for, Team:
Recording at PopHeart Studios in Athens, Ga with the amazing Suny Lyons: $2500
Plastic-free packaging and shipping for the CD itself: $1500
Art and Photography for CD: $500
T-shirts: $500
I totally just checked and that equals $5000
If for some crazy reason we don't make our entire goal, I will do first things first and pray for the rest.
If we exceed our goal (how awesome would THAT be?), first of all I will pay the fundraising fees to this friendly website we're on.
I could use the money to make a Vinyl Record if there is enough interest. Sweet!
Also, we will tour the world! SJ will be able to afford to ask the musicians she loves to go on tour with Honeychild! Since we've all toured before, we know this is an incredible yet expensive endeavour, but we're ready when you are, baby.
As mentioned above, the 2nd album is already being cooked up (I'm a very creative gal these days), so extra fundage will go to studio costs for the follow up to American Beach!
