Jamboree, an independently run homemade den of live music is facing close this summer as it cannot afford to pay its overheads and survive. Ironically, as a counteraction of having no budget from the beginning, Jamboree has organically grown through its tight-knit community of musicians and philanthropists who together have created a space with a sense of creativity, freedom, letting loose, togetherness, shared values and ethics; something which we feel makes Jamboree so special to people.
Six years in and this lack of budget can no longer sustain what it managed to do so in the beginnings when the venue was a makeshift bar living off the seat of its pants. Jamboree is always perpetually on shaky legs financially, but these last few months seem to be the final blow to knock us off our feet. After posting out on facebook as a last resort, the response we received from our community has been overwhelming and emotional, so we thank you for even thinking warmly of us. With your contributions through this crowd funding campaign, we can hope to raise enough money to get us back on our feet, out of the red and in a place where we can focus on changing our business model so that hopefully, we can sustain ourselves for years to come and not have to see this place fall this summer.
Your kind donations will achieve the payment of the following:
£3400 Rent arears
£466 PRS License Debt
£225 Late License
£300 Advertisement for local permission to obtain Late License
£400 Repair broken sound equipment
£200 Fans to keep you cool & infrastructure for a designated smoking area
£1550 to make 1000 or more compilation CD’s of our regular Jamboree bands and Armando Seijo posters to support them and to support ourselves, for you to have a memory of Jamboree when you aren’t here, and as a worthy gift in return for your donation
IndieGoGo 9% Fee of £458
Any additional funds raised through our two upcoming concerts will be kept in a savings account as a safety net to keep us alive if we come under tough times in the near future (before we are eligible to receive funding and implement our prospective sustainable business model.) Once that has hopefully happened, if we still have your safety net of extra funding then we will make sure it is spent within Jamboree in ways that will be enriching for our musicians, wider community and the business.
In return for your kind gesture, and as a thank-you, depending on how many pennies you can put in our jar we will bestow upon you some wonderful, and completely unique to Jamboree gifts!
