Hello, friends of creativity! I'm Katlyn, aka La Guerre.

First--a little about myself.

My project, La Guerre (french for "The War") is named in part referencing a choral piece I sang in high school and partially due to the themes of inner battle with oneself in my music.
I've been writing, singing and performing my entire life whether in choirs, musicals or bands like Hospital Ships  and Cowboy Indian Bear. 

I've had incredible opportunities to open for Florence and the Machine, Daniel Johnston, Grizzly Bear and many more. I've played shows in over 25 states, performed a number of Daytrotters and an Austin City Limits Satellite Set, have released two albums and two eps, and now have another two full length albums I'm releasing this year.

I've dedicated my life to music and to my community.
Now, I need your help.

MY GOAL: to fly across the Atlantic for my first ever European tour. It will be 17 shows in 3 weeks next July starting in London and wrapping all around the UK ending up back in London.--with a show in Paris to end it. (see tour route below)

WHY DOES IT MATTER IF YOU TOUR EUROPE?

1. Spreading the Music

With last year's release of my album, Violent, I began to receive some attention from overseas. I've gotten a handful of really great reviews from the French and English press. Along with that, I've been conversing with a number of label executives about potential European representation, and touring overseas would provide me the opportunity to meet and perform for these people.

And then there is the concept that a tour overseas would ensure that I spread my music to each city I play in, and those who like it tell their friends and so on and so on.

2. Gaining knowledge

If i've learned anything from extensive touring over the years, it's that there's nothing more valuable than your resources.You can never know too much about where you're playing or who you're playing with or who you're playing for. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of 'touring overseas' knowledge that i'd be returning to the states with. Knowledge that wont only just go to future La Guerre and Cowboy Indian Bear tours, but to all of my fellow musicians who are trying to get overseas for the first time. This is an open invitation to pick my brain anytime, just as you've let me do over these past few years!

3. The Adventure and it's Consequences

Like many other writers, i'm inspired by change in my surroundings. The majority of my song catalog has been written while on tour and I have no hesitation in saying that I will be returning to the United States with no less than an entire albums worth of new music. That, added to my already planned releases this year and I have a lot of work ahead of me (this is a GREAT thing!). This trip is not only three weeks of performances, it's my own creative writing workshop.

Finally--- as I've said before, music is what I live for, and I will never give up.

Anyone who has seen me play will tell you that I pour everything into my songs. I've been absolutely sure of what i've wanted to do with my life since I can remember, and i've never once wavered.
