So so so... this is what I need...
For years now I have been teaching my sewing classes in my living room. Cosy, comfortable, relaxed, and it puts people at ease. But, and this is a big but, it is a small living room.
So I can only teach 3 people at a time, and even then it is a constant "can I just get past you", " can you move a little so I can get to the cupboard" whilst I am teachig, and all not having family dinners at the table ever and using the ever present ironing board as an extra table, my 5 year old playing with the sewing machines as they are all over our space (I have about 12). Also I have cats. Some peopel don't liek them and they make some people sneeze. They sleep on my fabric. It would really help if I coud offer a space without cat hair.
So I need to move. I need to also stay close to the home. I have 6 cats, 3 kids, and I love working from home. I don't want to commute. I just need more space. I have lots of space in my garden. Lots.
So I can build a studio in my garden. One that can hold all my sewing machines, my fabric, my iron, my books, my patterns, my rulers. One than can comfortably hold 6 or 7 students (and an ironing board). This will give me back our living room (we miss it badly).
So I have looked into costs. I don't need anything fancy. Not a home office. Just a grand dry shed really. I can decorate, insulate, and carry stuff. I cannot build, lay foundations or put in electrics. For that I need help. And money.
So with a little help from you I can start reclaiming my living space and start teaching in a dedicated space. It will make a huge difference not just to my business but also to my family. We haven't eaten at a table for almost three years...
So I need specifically:
about £1500 for a shed
about £600 for electrics to go out to the shed
about £200 for furniture (tables, chairs, shelving)
about £100 for lighting both inside the shed and along the path to the garden
About £100 for the insulation
about £500 to pay someone to build the shed for me
If I don't make the full amount I will still build the studio. It will just take me a lot longer, and I was really hoping to get it done this summer. But any help is good. It is not just about money. You can do electrics and want to help? Great. You can help me take down the old shed? Fab. You are able and happy to lay foundations. I will love you for ever.
