Currently we are locked in studios worldwide working on our debut album! Its a very exciting time for all of us. We have 7 songs that are nearing completion. We need to write 3-5 more. This process has been unlike any I've ever been involved in. With 5 people (plus some more surprises) from at least 4 different countries and 2 continents it makes for an interesting journey. Its a challenge because we're not able to "jam" out ideas in a traditional sense. But, it has its benefits because each bit, part, loop are heard fresh by each member. That allows the creative process to happen in a very organic, inspiring, and unique manner.
Nothing is more exciting than sending or receiving a yousendit or wetransfer. We're all contributing to the puzzle that is Primitive Race. Sometimes the pieces fit perfectly. Sometimes they fit on something you didn't intend them to. Sometimes they don't work at all. Its a lot of fun and all I can say is "soon" we should have a snippet or two for you to sample.
The nuts and bolts
Below you will find renderings of what the final results will look like. Please note actual color of the shirts and/or graphics may differ slightly due to dye lot and screen printing inks at the time of production, Small runs aren't cheap but here we go! The shirts will be made of top quality soft materials with 2 color screen printing. Yeah its a little more expensive but comfort is important right? I'm also told the shirts may run a little small so keep that in mind.
If you go all out for the paper bag mask the actual design will be 1 of a kind so be ready for a masterpiece of art. :)
Our goal is to raise $3500. The funds will go towards transaction fees (up to 13% total), materials, production costs, shipping and handling.
My hope is you'll find something cool that you find value in! Other than just printing up t-shirts we're trying to get creative with what to offer. If you want a personl tweet, a phone call from me (Chris K...and maybe Vrenna will join on the line too), go to the movies, a baseball game, a cigar bar, or get your own handmade Primitive Race paper bag mask! I want this to be fun!
If we surpass our goal we already have some awesome "push goals" in mind that may include snippets of completed songs, demos of songs we're working on, and the possibility of adding some more amazing guests to the lineup!
This is our first attempt at "crowdfunding"
We are all excited about the idea of a crowd funded project. However, none of us have been involved in this process before so doing some simple t-shirts allows us to test it out. We get to learn from the experience. We'll find out what works. We'll stub our toe and find out what sucks. This will allow us to hopefully offer an even bigger and better project for the full album. It is our hope that you'll get behind us and make this a success! :)
