Velvet Cigar Lounge has been open since 2006 and loved by many. We've help build a community that mirrors the youthful energy of the East Village, catering to artsy and necktie types alike with the lounge's creative sensibilities and laid-back vibe. From the actor to the accountant, the unemployed to the overworked, Velvet has become an oasis in our hectic city where one forgets about troubles, meets the most interesting of characters, and enjoys friendship and cigars.
While we've lost our current lease in the East Village, we have finally found an ideal, new location just down the street next to McSorley's Ale House at 13 East 7th St.
Your perk purchases will help fund a new lounge with the following features:
- a state-of-the art smoke ventilation system, 100% fresh air every 6 minutes
- seating capacity for up to 40 people
- 14 foot ceilings, almost double our current ceiling height
- closer to the subway
- back area for private parties and ability to watch sporting events on huge screens
- next door to McSorley's Ale House
Please help keep Velvet Cigar Lounge open, one of the few remaining cigar lounges in New York City.
We need support to build a bigger, better Velvet Cigar Lounge.
Our plan includes a completely new shop and lounge in a space twice as large as our current location.
As is the case for most cigar lounges, ventilation is a huge issue, especially for a lounge in the middle of New York City. Our hope is to install a commercial-grade smoke ventilation HVAC system (estimated to cost us $80K alone) that will drastically improve everyone's experience at Velvet.
Our plan for the new lounge also calls for new members' and private party areas, smoker's bar, additional retail capabilities and new fixtures and furniture.
We have already hired an architect and signed the new lease that inlcudes a 3 month deposit. We need your help to make this vision a reality!
All the funds will go towards the construction of this new space, even if we don't reach our goal. We hope to open by September 15th, 2013.
