My Story

    Hi! First off thank you so much for taking your time to visit my campaign! My name is Savannah Quinn, I am eighteen and I do ballet. People often ask me why I dance and I am never able to fully explain why. I dance because I love it, dancing makes me feel free but I have no other description. Im honestly not even sure why I love it so much, its just something I feel like I am meant to do.

I started dancing when I was just four years old and never stopped. Originally my parents put me in dance just for fun, although it quickly became much more than that. Nowadays I dance 6 days a for up to 7 hours a day. My dream is to become a professional ballerina. This requires a lot of training, which is why I need YOUR help.

This year was my first year that I have auditioned for professional dance companies and training programs. I was lucky enough to be accepted to State Street Ballets summer intensive with a small scholarship! I was so excited when I found out! I was even more excited when I was told that the reason they gave me the scholarship was because they want to be able to watch me dance for a few weeks before potentially asking me to stay as an apprentice to the company! A dancers career begins and ends very young which is why this is so important. Please help me live my dream!

The Challenge

    Being asked to stay with the company is one of the most amazing things I can think of and would be a great way to kick off my career. Unfortunatly I can not afford it on my own. Although I do have a part time job that I work when I am not dancing (I do online college as I graduated high school early to pursue my dance career) and I will be chaperoning the program to help pay some of the expenses. The overall cost of the program will still be much to much for me too afford on my own. My father has had kidney failure twice and was lucky enough to get his second transplant in August of 2011. So money is pretty tight due to medical costs.  

The cost of the program is (with my scholarship applied and deductions for me being a chaperone) $3000 plus at least another $600 for plane tickets to both California and Colorado. Half of the program is held in Santa Barbara while the other half is held in Durango. I will also need to purchase multiple pairs of pointe shoes (which are $88 dollars a pair) as well as other dance items required by the program. 

The Goal is $4000 with any unused funds will be used towards moving to Santa Barbara is if am asked to stay (fingers crossed!) or towards my dance tuition where I am currently training. The same applies if I raise more than I need.
