Sustainability needs leaders: those brave souls who venture into the unknown, and tug us all along in their wakes. Ecovillage Education is hands-on, transformative, inspiring and wholistic training for those leaders to take their skills to the next level.

In the words of 2013 course grad Marita Albert: "what the course is ultimately doing is putting a fire under people to change the world....and that's always worth funding." We agree!

Located at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage-- a sustainable living demonstration project in northeastern Missouri-- the course gives students a direct experience of ecovillage life while learning the diverse skills necessary for sustainable living. The students walk away ready to help their town, organization, school, family, neighborhood or intentional community transition to a more sustainable way of life.

We’re raising $14,000 to support our 2014 course. Over half of this money will go directly to scholarships, enabling EEUS to lower the financial barriers for students to attend this life-changing course.

So is this just fluff, or are we for real? The Ecovillage Education curriculum has four components: ecological, economic, social and world view. And our organization really walks its talk. For instance, we have a huge commitment to local economies.  Last year, 87% of our budget was spent within five miles of our community, with most of that money flowing through our local currency called ELMs.  (Check out our cool infographic in the updates to show you how that works.)

And did you see those PERKS? They are another example of both our local economy and the support our community has shown for the course.

Of the $14,000 you’re helping us raise, here is how the budget breaks down:

  • 62% will be used as needs based scholarships for students
  • 13% goes to amazing videography to make these materials accessible to many more people online
  • 12% covers campaign fees (including 5% to our awesome fiscal sponsor, the Fellowship for Intentional Community: http://www.ic.org/)
  • 13% covers shipping PERKS to you and the wholesale cost of PERKS that weren’t fully donated... supporting the small businesses that support us!

Ecovillage Education US needs your help to fulfill our mission of equipping the next generation of sustainable culture leaders with the skills necessary to positively transform our world. This course has the power to change lives as our students from last year are demonstrating right now.

Three students are actively developing ecovillages, in Texas, Oregon and Seoul, South Korea. Watch our video to hear directly from three of the students about how their lives have been positively affected!

With your contribution, we can help ensure that tomorrow’s leaders receive the training they need to build more sustainable cultures across the globe. And ultimately, their work will benefit us all.

This Campaign is Verified Non-Profit - Your Donation may be tax-deductible.

LOOK: SUSTAINABLE PERKS from our EcoVillage:

Remember, your contribution is tax-deductible and you’ll get a tangible LOCAL PERK for helping us fund scholarships! If a contribution isn’t possible for you at this time, please take a few moments to share our campaign with your friends and family and anyone else you know who values sustainable culture.

Signed Copy of Ma'ikwe's Book

Written by EEUS Director Ma'ikwe Ludwig, 'Passion as Big as a Planet' is rooted in many years of spiritual questing and community activism and this is apparent in the way that it skillfully bridges these two worlds. It shows how to combine personal growth and spiritual exploration with social and political activism, and how, indeed, both tracks need each other in order to be vibrant and effective. I can help bring into focus what's really wanted by the desire for "community" and present options and tools for getting there. More info here: http://www.sandhillfarm.org/canbridge.html
