There have been recent releases of really great hardware and software that have advanced the printing power for Makers everywhere. But we haven't seen that same development in the world of materials. It's frustrating being limited by the colors and properties of resins and tons of time is wasted trying to get the right printer settings. The high costs per liter makes us cringe at every failed print.

We've had these issues with a number of different kinds of SLA printers. Talking with other members of the 3D printing community, we found they had the same frustrations we had.

More Resin Details

Does the resin work on printers besides the Form1?

Yes, the resin will work in other printers, such as the B9, Muve3D, and others. However, we still need to settle on the appropriate print settings for other laser and projector based printers. We have developed other general-purpose resins that we have as a reward as well, which are more suited for most laser and DLP systems.

Is there a risk to my printer using your resin?

MadeSolid resin does not make contact with any functional parts of your printer other than the vat and the build platform. It is therefore highly unlikely that the resin will damage any other portion of your printer. During our testing, as well as the testing of beta users, there have been no adverse results from printing with MadeSolid resin. 

Will it damage my vat?

There have been no adverse affects reported by any users of the resin damaging vats or build platforms. Our resin has a lower viscosity, so it is not as thick as resins you may be used to using. As a result, it is easier to clean, while creating less friction between your build platform and vat. However, all vats used in resin printing will need to be replaced according to the timeline provided to you by the printer manufacturer.

What colors are available?

Currently, Black, White, Blue, and Pink are available. We have printed in other colors, and those will be available soon. If you have a color that you would like to see, send an email to listening@madesolid.com. It's likely that we can make something happen if there is enough of a request.

How do I choose a color for my resin?

You can select a different color for each liter you buy. For example, if you buy a pack of 3, you can choose 2 White Liters and 1 Blue Liter or 1 Pink Lt.1 Black Lt. 1 White Lt. Just message us once you finish the checkout and let us know which combo of colors you want.

What is the shelf life of the resin?

All resin has a shelf life. We estimate that your resin will be good as new for 6-months, after which the quality of the resin may start to diminish. Regardless of the amount of time it has been on the shelf, we suggest shaking the bottle of resin before use.

Do you have estimated delivery dates for the resin?

We plan to ship 30 days from when the campaign finishes. Once we close the campaign it will take a little time to get the supplies, mix together the formula, and ship it.

We are makers, chemists, engineers, and entrepreneurs. We love designing, uploading our STL files, and coming out with amazing prints. The universe of 3D Printing can only go as far as the material lets it. Our vision is to extend the limits of what can be made by printing with superior materials.

How Far Along is Development?

The hard work of development a resin that works great is done. Now we need your help to get our resin into the hands of SLA printer users like you. The demands of scaling our operation takes quite a bit of capital to get things moving. This campaign will allow us to get enough of the raw materials and equipment to properly mix and package the resin and ship it out to you.

For you lovely casual supporters, we are going to hook you up with different classes of MadeSolid swag ranging from shout-outs, stickers, t-shirts and 3D printed objects. We're offering two kinds of prints. The first is a colorful bunch of flowers in a vase (each item will be printed and the flowers themselves in our resin). The second is a fully functional desktop catapult. We will print and assemble it, then ship it to you. It'll be made from our own PET material and no rubber bands are required.

For you Form1 users, we offer our F1 MadeSolid Resin. There are a variety of packages to choose from depending on how many liters you need. You may choose Blue, Black, White, or Pink for each bottle (For example, with a 3 pack you can have 2 Black and 1 White).

For you Non-Form1 SLA Printer users, we offer a high quality resin that is compatible with B9Creators and Muve3D, among others. You may choose from Blue, Black, Magenta, and White.

Risks and challenges

We have already unlocked the key elements which will pave the way for expanding into different resin properties and colors. The challenge that lays in front of us is a simple one - startup costs. We need capital to buy the barrels and raw materials required to produce the resin.

The initial wave of recipes have already been crafted and we have been able to produce enough small quantity to test with a number of early adopters. We just need a little boost to scale our operation to supply you with high quality resin.
