My name is Matthew Doyle and Hook-Up will be my third feature film as writer/director. My first feature, Disquiet (2007), played in some great film festivals around the country and Phantom Images (2011) is currently showing on the Here! cable network and available on DVD from Ariztical Entertainment.
Hook-Up, starring Antonio Biaggi, is rough, sexy and very real; a love story that reflects the here and now of gay life in the age of Grindr, Scruff, A4A and Manhunt. Sensitive and savage, intelligent and heartfelt, Hook-Up is a movie that will stay with the viewer long after the end credits roll.
The production of Hook-Up is going to be top notch - a movie you will be proud to be a part of. We are shooting with the Red Epic camera package for theatrical projection in GLBT film festivals worldwide.

For a $30.00 contribution you will not only get the DVD before the commericial release date, but a big SPECIAL THANK YOU! in the credits as well. In a sense, you’re basically pre-ordering the movie.
A $2500.00 contribution gets you Executive Producer credit in the opening and closing titles, a day on the set where your photo will be taken with the cast and crew and dinner with Antonio and myself at a fine restaurant here on Long Island as our guest. While travel expenses are not include, we will put you up in a hotel for one night.
And there’s a lot of great stuff in between!
The story:
An internet hook-up.
Forbidden desire.
Two lives in crisis.
Bryson Colon (Biaggi) is a construction worker who lives in the suburbs of Long Island. After a string of failed, long-term relationships, he now hooks-up with twinks he encounters on Daddy-Search.com - a website/phone application that connects older and younger. For Bryson, now fast approaching his 40th birthday, the thrill of being worshipped by a younger man is a narcotic; an escape from failure, a reprieve of being himself.
Mahlik Gonzalez is a teenage runaway with a history of sexual abuse. His crisis comes from a lack of dreams, of not seeing a future for himself at all. For Mahlik, a boy who yearns for love and security, the search for a ‘daddy’ is both literal and heartbreakingly sincere.
Both men get more than they bargain for when they stop seeing each other as meat and must deal with the reality and utter vulnerability of sharing one’s life, and bed, with another human being.

What your contribution pays for:
Filmmaking is expensive - and time is always in short supply. Every penny spent in this production will be used to maximize time on set.
- Camera and lighting package rental.
- Microphones and sound package.
- Locations (most are free, but others we have to pay dearly for).
- Cargo van rental
- Post production
- Craft food services
- While some of the cast and crew will be camping out on my living room floor, others will have to stay in a hotel (which also doubles as a location). As I learned from my first production, getting everybody fed and showered takes forever.
What if we don’t meet out final goal of $36,500?
If we are going to shoot in the final weeks of October 2013 as planned, we really have to meet this goal. Everything has been tightly budgeted, the shooting days precisely planned.
If we come up a little short, our belts could be tightened a little more... but if we come up very short, scenes will have to be cut, the story simplified and the result won’t be the full, rich film we’ve envisioned.
However, if we are over-funded, this means more shooting days, more crew and an ever better movie than we imagined!
