Remember VHS? Cause IT remembers you...

HOUSE OF VHS is a classic horror/fantasy film: six students in an old house, planning on having a good time, are threatened by an ancient curse. This time, evil lies in a dusty VCR, who happens to have magical powers. The tone and story will bring back memories of Evil Dead and Videodrome. VHS nostalgia is also a strong element of this movie, where the characters will spend some time discovering schlock films that they didn't think could even exist. Zombie flicks, supernatural tales, science-fiction extravaganzas...

Who's making this?

Filmmaker Gautier Cazenave and his producing partner Jean-Noël Georgel have been working together on short films for 15 years. Their company Marteau Films Production is also preparing a much anticipated, ambitious horror mystery film called Sherlock Holmes vs Frankenstein (you can watch the teaser here or in the gallery).

Oh mon Dieu, they're French?!

Shooting will be in English language, and it will last two weeks, in August 2013. We will be in a small French village in the centre of France. Post-production (editing, music, vfx, sound design and sound editing) will be four months, which means the film will be completed just before 2014.

The cast features young international actors, playing characters from six different countries (France, USA, UK, Belgium, Australia and Italy): Isabel McCann, Ewen Blumenstein, Pétur Sigurdsson, Delphine Lanniel, Morgan Lamorté and Florie Vialens.

The production crew will consist of six people: director Gautier Cazenave, director of photography François Reumont and his assistant Yoann Morel, sound engineer Yohan Piaud, and two people to take care of production (catering, transportation, assisting everyone with everything).

Will there be music in this?

The score for House of VHS will be crafted by composer Matthieu Huvelin, whose work you can hear in the above video, and in the one-minute teaser we made for Sherlock Holmes vs Frankenstein.

The film will also feature two songs by French Heavy Metal band The Outburst (you can watch two of their music videos in the gallery). The Outburst doesn't exist anymore, but its former members have created two successful new bands: One Last Shot and Arkan.

What does it take to build a HOUSE OF VHS?

Of course, you might ask how your contribution will help the film, and where it fits in the budget. We're trying to raise at least 3000€ through this campaign, essentially for the catering.
