I See You a short film written & directed by Cinti Laird

Hi, I'm Cinti Laird, an actress who has worked in the New York City schools as a Teaching Artist and a Substitute Teacher.  In 1988 I began performing educational shows in New York City Schools then following the show was hired as an off-site Teaching Artist to teach the lessons of our show - which was funded by corporations.  It was the way that arts was incorporated in education before Mayor Bloomberg.   I tend to try to meet students in their place of need in this instance introducing drama, with the theatrical play, English Literature, performance and interpretation with the film, to open  the discussion about bullying.  Bullying exists all around, but there are good people all around.  Since it takes a village to raise a child there are ways to combat bulling even if it is being taught at home.  Not everyone feels comfortable confronting children who are rowdy or always in a mood to fight.  Gifting the I See You package empowers anyone who gives it, to share effective communication, reasoning and confidence building skills that help diminish the desire to bully.  We know that bullying fosters low self esteem, inter-fears with learning for both the bully and the bullied.  Bullying hurts, is costly mentally, emotionally, physically and financially.  The good thing is that bullying can be prevented.

I See You is a short lighthearted film that deals with bullying.  Based upon my own success with eliminating bullying in my classroom, I am designing a lesson plan similar to what worked consistently with children from 6 to 13 years old.  It is best to being at the earliest age before habits form.  It and the film are a part of the I See You package available for advance sales here on Indiegogo.

By making learning fun and interesting, I've carefully, delicately woven examples of self respect and personal responsibility into the work.  Since peer pressure contributes heavily to a lot of  face-to-face and cyber bullying in our society, stressing personal responsibility helps to combat negative peer pressure.  When children learn to take personal responsibility seriously, understanding consequences, they tend to be more thoughtful about the choices they make.

A fun, creative, inclusive learning or recreation environment is a safe place for both the bully and the bullied youth to freely express themselves.  When children are comfortable enough to open up, we can get to the root of the problem and begin to address it.  This is a fantastic starting point.  I See You creates that starting point not only for schools, but neighborhood associations, recreation centers, sports, theater, arts, music programs, girls and boys clubs, boy scouts, girl scouts and even religious organizations.  Sometimes the worst sort of bullying takes place where one would never expect, like religious organizations which is why they are on this list.

Your purchase of the I See You package as a gift for a child or youth organization, teachers across the nation can put a dent in bullying over time.  Your gift ensures that access to this fun and inviting way of dealing with a serious situation will meet children in a place of need before it's too late.   We would love to reach our goal in time to complete the package for family fun at Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.  Your response would have to be amazing and we would need to work fast.  With our goal met, what we are promising is electronic delivery early in December.

We aim to deliver in time for the Christmas, Kwanza and New Years at the latest, otherwise.  Bullying prevention is too important an issue to dismiss - so one way or another we will get it done.  That's where your spreading the word, sharing our link on social networks, telling your friends, family, co-workers will do a great deal of good.

Arts in Education was 100% funded by corporations privately
in NYC until early 2000 with the pilot program the Mayor Michael Bloomberg
started and of which I was an original participant in developing.  We has
astonishingly fantastic results which I want to replicate that directly targeting bullying - something - which by the way has always been eliminated in my own classroom.  No doubt due to my structuring of the lesson plans, to incorporate equality, respect and
entertaining elements that foster cooperation.

What I aim to impact and lessen:

The goal is to put a big dent in bullying while the children are young so that
it does not get more lethal as it does in teen years. I am not equipped to address someone in the depths of depression like this teenager 14 year old Jamey,  - but I can make the type of contribution as a teaching artist by sharing the skills and ability
which work for me with the masses to stop a great percentage from bullying before it gets out of hand; before sexual orientation even becomes an issue-

Jamey put on a brave face:

Bullying leading to child suicide to escape cruelty has
been going on for a long time and the numbers are increasing.  Your contribution can be a part of this particular solution..  Presales of the I See You Lesson Plan and any follow up programs afforded me through your generous donation will drive the already below market value cost of these programs down - so that others can benefit.  If I could afford to I'd happily give them away and with your support - in time, maybe I can.
