Short Summary
Hello! I'm Nathan Fehr, creator of Interesting Times. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, and writing journal comics on a regular basis for the past seven years. I love getting to do this and over time have built a small but loyal fanbase. Honestly I've never had aspirations of fame, but I have always thought it'd be awesome to see my work in print.
Around a year ago a friend of mine and his wife told me they wanted to help with that dream. They were getting into the idea of independent press, they told me, and with so much available material my site was practically book-ready!
And so I got to work digging out old files, compiling commentary and getting everything ready. At long last I'm proud to announce that we're ready to get this thing published and start sellin' copies!
...there's just a matter of getting it printed.
What We Need & What You Get
"Interesting Times: Year One & Two" will be 300 pages of the best Interesting Times comics printed in black and white on high quality 50 lb paper with hardcover and foil stamping. To get this done, we reached out to Friesens, a Southern Manitoba-based company that does high quality publishing work including oh I don't know the HARRY POTTER books. They gave us a printing price per unit of $14.89 for 200 books, which means we need $2978. That's kind of a lot of money!
So in return for helping us make this a reality, we want to give you the credit you deserve: your name in the book, cool extras like stickers, pins, and some of the most beloved Interesting Times web banners as prints for supporters! Best of all, the perk for a $35 pledge is the physical printed book itself. And for $60 you get an Indiegogo exclusive Ninja Edition with custom drawings by the author! What's more, if you've ever wanted to meet me for an hour lunch, it's now possible with the magic of currency!

The Impact
Printed books are being challenged by digital alternatives these days. We get that! But, did you notice that protoype book in the video? Even though it's low-resolution and hastily assembled there's something special about having a solid, tangible, printed thing. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, I've had that prototype lying around for a while now and I've seen it draw people in. And the one we want to make is going to be even better.
For me personally this book will still be a meaningful accomplishment even if we don't make a dime. For others I'm sure it'll be different things -- something fun to have on the coffee table, something unique to have on the bookshelf, or even just something stable to put a monitor on. Whatever motivates you, I want to thank you in advance for helping out. I know you're going to enjoy the finished product.
