With iPal's Eye Tracking Technology, You Get What You See
iPal follows your eyes automatically and sees what your eyes see. You don't have to hold a camera in your hand and worry about pointing it correctly. Just sit back and enjoy without distracting yourself or others. No other camera offers this convenience.

With iPal's Eye Gesture Controls, You Can Capture and Share without Lifting a Finger

iPal is smart. It can learn user defined eye gestures too. This is a new natural user interface. Use it for gaming, as a remote control or for many other purposes. We won't limit your creativity on how you will use this interface. No other camera offers full control with eye gestures, including the $1500 Google Glass camera.

Share with telepresence
Share special moments with loved ones far away. Let them take control of your iPal camera so they can see exactly what they want to see, as if they were there with you.

No other camera allows a dad hundreds of miles away from his baby daughter to see her through the eyes of his wife, while she is holding the baby in her arms. iPal does turn your eyes into your camera.
Crop a scene with your eyes. No other camera can do this, including the $1500 Google Glass camera.
By tracing your eyes around an object in a scene, you can tell iPal exactly what you want to capture. iPal automatically zooms in on that area. You won't need an app to crop the image, because iPal reads your eyes and knows what to do.

Capture Unexpected Moments
Rolling buffer is one of iPal's video recording modes. You can set iPal to record only the last few minutes of what you are seeing. If anything interesting happens, you can ask iPal to keep it; otherwise, iPal will write over it. iPal allows you to set the time duration of the buffer. With rolling buffer, you'll never miss an unexpected moment, because if you see it, iPal sees it too.
Take Pictures All Day or Record Two Hours of Video with a Single Charge
![]()
With iPal, you can take unlimited pictures or record two hours of video with a single charge. We offer a battery pack if you need to record for longer periods. For comparison, Google Glass records approximately 30 minutes of video.
Set Custom Picture Modes for Various Needs
iPal offers four options for taking pictures: single image, burst of images, taking pictures at specific intervals, and taking pictures at random times. If you choose to take photos at specific intervals, you can document your day. In random mode, you will have something to look forward to at the end of the day.

How Does iPal Compare to Google Glass?
![]()
From imaging perspective, Google Glass is a head tracking camera. This camera has no idea of what your eyes are looking at, and pointing it properly is harder than pointing a smartphone with your hands. Only eye tracking cameras can follow your eyes.

iPal Design Criteria
LOOKS MATTER: If it's wearable, it has to look good and come in different shapes and styles. Wearables should not be big and bulky or make you look like a cyborg. iPal looks like a normal pair of glasses and won’t cause any distractions.
HEALTH MATTERS: The further away a wireless unit is from your head, the lower your exposure to wireless radiation. The World Health Organization classifies wireless devices as Class-2B, meaning they may increase the risk of developing cancerous tumors in the brain.
WEIGHT MATTERS: Wearing a battery and processor on the face all day is cumbersome. Why carry the extra weight?
BATTERY LIFE MATTERS: How useful is a wearable camera if it can only record 30 minutes with one charge? Placing the battery away from the frames allows for larger battery power and longer recording time.
HANDS-FREE, AUTO-ZOOM MATTERS: If a camera claims to follow, or track, your eyes, it must be able to zoom in and out too, and capture your peripheral view.
iPal Is More Than A Camera
iPal is much more than a camera. It is the next-generation intelligent personal assistant that goes beyond the current voice enabled assistants, such as Siri, Google Now and the upcoming Cortana, which are all "blind". iPal will offer a pair of eyes to Siri and all others. How Did iPal Get Its Name?
iPal is basically a wearable computer. It sees what your eyes see (input to your eyes) and what your eyes do in response (output), and it digitizes that information. Apps can use this information to let iPal become your videographer, shopping assistant or anticipate and fill other needs. If you're falling asleep at the wheel or are drowsy, iPal can detect that and alarm you before it's too late. When used with a facial identification app, iPal can remind you of forgotten names. When shopping, iPal can automatically recognize an object or read its bar code or QR code and bring up reviews or even let you know where else you can buy it for a lower price. These unique capabilities make iPal a true pal and an intelligent and trusted companion. Digital personal assistants such as Siri are blind. With iPal's help, Siri will be able to see soon.

To Wrap It Up...
Current iPal Status
We currently have a working lab prototype. With our prototype, we can take pictures or record videos, zoom in or out, or even turn on and off the camera with eye gestures. We can also crop a scene with eye gestures. The frame design has gone through three revisions.
What We Need, What You Get
We began developing iPal in 2008. After considerable effort and dedication, we’re ready to reach the next phase and deliver the product to your hands. But funding this next phase is currently beyond our financial means. To show that we appreciate your support, we are offering pre-orders of iPal at significant discounts. The MSRP is $500, saving you up to $300 upon pre-order. To gain your trust, we will honor refund requests, as described below.
Production Plan and Risks
Dallas, Texas hosts some of the world's top tier Contract Manufacturers (CMs). There are also a number of quick turn-around prototyping facilities in the area that work directly with top manufacturers. iPal will be produced locally by one of these CMs so you can count on a timely, quality result. Prior to high-volume manufacturing, evaluation units will be built in Dallas by a local prototyping company.
Risks can be grouped into two categories: technology and execution. Our functional prototype has already de-risked the technology portion. We have de-risked our supply chain by selecting off-the-shelf parts that are readily available and used in millions of smartphones. The image sensors and the processor that we use are already used in millions of smartphones, and contract manufacturers are familiar with them.
Refund and Return
We will refund your purchase of iPal, if for any reason you change your mind before you receive your order. Contact us at support@meetipal.com with your request. After you receive your iPal, you will have 30 days to return the undamaged product to receive a refund.
