Our Campaign

Whistleblowing is a crucial corrective tool for democracy. It breaks indifference, enhancing an active society. It provides witnesses of wrongdoings with the opportunity of denouncing, “blowing the whistle”. But whistleblowing can be dangerous for personal security and safety.

IRPILEAKS is a tool that turns whistleblowing into a safe procedure, assuring no risks for those who want to “blow the whistle” to the Investigative Reporting Project Italy (IRPI).

• IRPI is an Italian nonprofit organisation for transantional investigative reporting

• Thanks to GlobaLeaks open-sources software invented by Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights, and under their careful guidance, IRPI has put together IRPILEAKS, a platform that assures anonymous leaking service

• For IRPILEAKS to function, especially in case we get a great flow of leaks, we need to raise some money. Not only we are going to have a very busy newsroom working on the leaks we get, but we also have to cover costs, like server rental and PR campaigns, which are fundamental for the well-going of the project.

For it, we ask your contribution: help us ensuring we can keep IRPILEAKS going and growing!

IRPILEAKS costs in details

Here you can find listed the costs we aim to cover with your donations:

• Three-year server rental: €284,40.

• Ten campaigns on Facebook to promote the platform: €230

• Extra-funds will be use to cover further expenses that our newsroom will encounter when dealing with leaks (checking information has a great cost!)

• To thank you we thought of unique perks: from a virtual hug, to a special mention on IRPI's newsletter, to being quoted on single projects that will originate out of IRPILEAKS.

The Impact

It seems we are launching crowdfunding for a very small amount of money. But IRPI is recently born, is still struggling to find funds, and being able and cover IRPILEAKS’s basic costs would be already much of help. Few hundred euros can allow us to worry less about “how on Earth are we going to pay the sever’s cost?” and more on dealing with our potential whistleblowers who are ready to expose wrongdoings, abuses, fraud, corruption and crime by submitting sensitive information directly to a group of investigative journalists through a secure platform. More leaks mean less corruption. More leaks, more in-depth journalism. More in-depth journalism, better democracy. Help us making this formula true!
