Our site has launched! Check us out at knowyourix.org and help us ensure that students everywhere know their Title IX right to an education free from sexual violence and harassment. Many thanks to all our supporters for making this dream a reality!
![Our Goal]()
In 1972, Title IX of the Education Amendments prohibited sex-based discrimination in schools, guaranteeing students essential and extensive rights to freedom from sexual violence necessary for equal access to education. In 2011, Vice President Biden clarified the standards to which higher education institutions must adhere, including specific guidelines for addressing reports of sexual misconduct.
Yet too many colleges today are failing to fulfill their legal and ethical obligations. In the past year, sexual violence survivors have shared their experiences of administrative neglect, disregard, and abuse at institutions including Amherst College, the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Yale University, Occidental College, Northwestern University, and Rice University. Their experiences are not unique but representative of sexually hostile campus environments across the country.
We believe it is time for change. Let’s make next semester better than this one.
Know Your IX is a campaign that aims to educate every college student in the U.S. about his or her rights under Title IX by the start of the Fall 2013 academic term. Armed with information, survivors will be able to advocate for themselves during their schools’ grievance proceedings and, if Title IX guarantees are not respected, to file a complaint against their colleges with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. When colleges are confronted with their students’ knowledge and thirst for justice, they will be forced to take proactive steps to end sexual violence, ensuring every student a safe educational environment.

![Who We Are]()
Know Your IX is an activist collective run by students and young alumni who have successfully campaigned against their colleges' inadequate responses to campus sexual violence. We connected online through our activism, as featured in the New York Times. For media inquiries, please contact us at knowyourIX@gmail.com.
![What We'll Do]()
Know Your IX will educate students about their Title IX rights through a number of channels, primarily:
- An extensive website with fact sheets and other resources (also available in campus women's centers across the U.S.) to inform students about their rights and the Title IX complaint process
- An intensive social media campaign to make Title IX knowledge "go viral"
- Full-page advertisements of Title IX rights in student newspapers the first week of the fall semester
Although we're committed to these projects, we're dedicated to responding to the needs of all survivors and student activists.

![What You Can Do]()
Why do we need your help? We need at least $10,000 to hire an experienced web developer, host a large site, pay our graphic designer and video editor for their completed and future work, and purchase ad space in student papers. And the more money we raise, the more we can do! Any contribution, however large or small, will strengthen our fight against campus sexual violence.
If you can't afford to give, you can still lend a hand in the fight against campus sexual violence. Share our Indiegogo page with friends, Tweet about us (@knowyourIX), and like us on Facebook!
