PLOT
Lana & Gerald is a short fantasy film about two diminutive forest-dwelling creatures who one day happen across a strange, futuristic structure in their woods. Enticed by the showy technology, they go into the robot-staffed building and discover a fantastic environment that has a hypnotic effect on all who enter. However, as they soon discover, something sinister is at work behind the impressive display and soon the two are on the run for their lives.
What Sets Lana & Gerald apart?
Lana & Gerald is an ambitious project that will combine a diverse group of genres and influences into one unique experience that has a style all its own. Drawing from themes similar to those found in the work of Hayao Miyazaki, such as struggles between the dualities of nature vs. technology and innocence vs. corruption, this short film will have elments of classic childhood fantasy, adventure, and even a little bit of horror thrown in for good measure all brought to life through cutting edge modern filmmaking methods.
Why we need YOUR help:
Most of the people working on this film will be doing so for free for the sole purpose of creating a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience, but bringing the fantastic world in which this story takes place to life will require a considerable budget. Among other things, we will need to pay for:
-Green screen studio rental for two days
-Camera, lighting, and lens rental
-Equipment rental
-Payment for lead actors and director of photography
-Food, both meals and craft services
-Costume design and creation
-Makeup special effects
