LAST MEN OUT is a documentary film about the Vietnam Veteran Helicopter Pilots, Crew and Support Personnel of F Troop 4th US (Air) Cavalry. F Troop played an active and varied role throughout Vietnam and eastern Cambodia. During the Vietnam War, F Troop continued to accumulate individual and unit honors while operating as a separate Air Cavalry Troop and was one of the last U.S. Army units to leave Vietnam on February 26, 1973. Their Helicopter Pilots’ Troop reunion will be taking place in San Diego over 4th of July weekend 2010. And this film will document their reunion, history, service and include interviews of some of the remaining pilots including my father, Joseph Litton (a Huey pilot), Ron Radcliffe (a LOH pilot, awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the second highest award under the Medal of Honor), Aubrey “Dizzy” Dismukes (a LOH pilot), Russ Miller (a Cobra pilot), Bob Jones (a Scout pilot), Dan Lott (a Scout pilot) Frank Walker and Frederick Ledfors (LOH pilots who were also awarded the Distinguished Service Cross), Mike Woods (a Cobra pilot), Scottie Hill (a LOH pilot), John Spencer (the Commander of F Troop during 1971 and 1972) and many other members. Our intention is to capture their stories and feelings about being a pilot and fighting in the Vietnam War and what it was like to return home to a country torn apart by the political climate of the time and ultimately how it affected their lives. Our hope is that by giving these men an opportunity to tell their stories we can shed light on a very misunderstood war and honor the men who deserve this very special tribute.
