You’ll Never Walk Alone
The sense of community amongst U.S. soccer supporters is something special that is hard to articulate or quantify. While we may posses our partisan differences when it comes to our favorite clubs and players there has long been an overriding sense of family that has drawn us together no matter our background or where we call home.
On September 10, 2013 the largest “family” reunion to date will take place in Columbus, Ohio where over 9,000 supporters of the United States Men’s National Team will sing loud and stand proud for the USA when they face off in a crucial 2014 World Cup Qualifying Match against arch-rival Mexico.
It is the goal of this campaign to increase that number by one.
On August 19, 2013 longtime New England Revolution and USMNT supporter Amy Ross saw her beloved husband Tim pass away unexpectedly after a long battle with mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer. Those who knew Tim recall a good man who possessed great character in addition to being a great character. His good humor, wit, generosity, ready smile and devotion to family and friends were complimented perfectly by a wife, partner and best friend who possessed these very same attributes.
Her loss is our loss and while we grieve with her we also seeks ways to extend our support and ease her pain. One of the best ways to do this is to embrace her as a family we would like to bring Amy with us to the USMNT match against Mexico, our hope being that the experience will be therapeutic and healing.
Understanding this we have initiated a campaign in an effort to raise the $700 necessary to fly her to the match. Any money in excess of covering the costs for the flight and hotel would be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Massachusetts/Rhode Island in honor of Tim.
Help us help her and demonstrate again how we can come together to help her as a family in this time of need.
Approximate funding breakdown
• Flight ~$500
• Hotel ~$200
