Women represent
more than 50 % of the African population...
They are the
backbone and the Supportive shoulders and strength of each African Nation...
BUT AFRICAN WOMEN & GIRLS ARE QUITE OFTEN:
-
Excluded From equal human rights in African society
-
Restricted in
their rights to education
-
Unable to
access adequate health care for themselves, babies and children
-
Not given right
to own property, or access to economic independence, or welfare
-
Victims
of ‘honour killings’, female genital mutilation, trafficking, restricted
mobility and early marriage,
-
In
conflict-ridden areas, women are raped as a weapon of war with no impunity.
-
In most African countries, women are excluded from decision-making,
leadership positions,
SO,
IMAGINE IF...
-
Women and girls have access to information to know
their rights, health, livelihoods, …
-
They have access to workshops/training to get the
skills, education, peer support and role models she needs to succeed in life
and be leaders in her communities
IMAGINE THE DIFFERENCE THIS WOULD MAKE TO HER LIFE AND
TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY....
It is already happening…
