In LEVEL 22 you play as Gary, an average office employee. Gary has a bad habit, he is
always late at work. The problem is that if it happens again, he will certainly
be fired. And guess what, after a night of party, Gary is late again. Your
objective: help Gary to reach his desk without being spotted by his colleagues.
You are going to run, hide, and think fast if you want to have a chance to
reach the LEVEL 22.

LEVEL 22,
Gary’s Misadventures is a Stealth Comedy Game. Our goal was to pay tribute to a
genre that really fascinated us. We borrowed some fundamental gameplay elements
from classics stealth games and mixed it with a silly plot and an eccentric pixel-arted
universe. The idea was to turn the traditionally sad working place into a
childish playground. We wanted to make the player remember the time when he/she
was a kid playing hide and seek. LEVEL 22 is also a way to experiment things
that would normally be impossible in the real life. Being violent with your
boss and lurking under a cardboard box are not exactly what can be considered
acceptable in the usual professional context. But even if “transgression” is
often the key of success in this game, you will also have to think a lot.
Reflection (and a little bit of timing, of course) will constantly be your main
weapon to face the threat of unemployment.

Your
objective is to find a way to reach the end of the level without being seen.
Each time you are spotted, you get a game over screen. You have to carefully
explore your environment, discover what can be used at your advantage and build
a strategy to avoid your colleagues’ fields of visions. Along your way, you
will have to find many different items and learn how to use them properly.

Use you environment
Anything
can be useful! Hide in closets, in car trunks, under cardboard boxes or behind
newspapers. You may also find handy to crawl through air vents and booby trap
photocopiers or computers. Playing as Gary will surely make you realize that,
as surprising as it seems, kicking vending machines and moving around on
conveyor belts can often be good ways to avoid getting into troubles.

Neutralize your co-worker
Teach these
snitches a good lesson! What about baiting them with a donut so you can move
them out of your way? You can also put
some laxative or radioactive substances on it to keep them busy for a while. Well,
if you think these methods are to extreme you can subtly attract their
attention by throwing erasers at them or, less subtly, knocking them out with a
big book.

Discover secrets
Your best
friend, Marty, is a former employee of the company, he will guide you all
through the game using his cellphone. Marty has a black belt degree in slacking. He
will teach you every trick he knows but he won’t do it for nothing. You will be
asked to get him back his beloved collection of collectible Toys he lost when
he got fired. Localize them and gather them all. Oh, and by the way, there are
also these strange safes all around the building. Will you find them all? Will
you crack their codes?

A Pc, Mac and Linux version of the game
Level 22, Gary’s
Misadventures has already been released on iPad and android tablet Pc. We are
launching that Indiegogo campaign to finance the additional cost of development
related to programming, debugging, re-balancing and testing for the Pc, Mac and
Linux version. We have already had many requests to port the game to Pc but we actually can’t
afford it. The Indiegogo campaign is here to gather all those who believe in a computer
port of the game and want to be able to enjoy it in this platform.
