Its time to bring a true convergence between Desktop computers and mobile Android devices; the best of both worlds. Your hardware, your operating system!
LinuxonAndroid has been running for over 2 years. We have grown from strength to strength, with over 60,000 active installs of our Android app (Complete Linux Installer), 8 different Linux distributions supported and over 1500 tested Device + ROM combinations. The above video shows the project as it is right now, we are working on a teaser for what it will feel like once funded and completed... watch this space!
We come back to Indiegogo to help realise LinuxonAndroid's true goal; a truly convergent system, making your Android device the only computer you will need!
After the success(or not) of the Ubuntu Edge it is clear people want a device that does everything they could need from a computer, and we are here to offer that on phones/tablets of your choice with your selection of Linux distribution.

If we reach our funding goals we will be able to work full time on the LinuxonAndroid project, working around the clock to deliver a platform that allows both the easy use of Android and the productivity of a full desktop operating system.
This will be completed by taking our current work and tightening the integration, blurring the lines between Desktop Linux and Android. By building our own Android ROM, plus integrating and improving our Linux installs we will be able to offer a seamless experience between Android and Linux.
Features that will be working from launch of the new project:
- Shared file system: access your sdcard and storage in both Android and Linux
- Native graphics: run Linux without VNC via HDMI out or on the devices screen
- Audio: play audio from Linux via the devices speakers
- Notifications: view all your android notifications from within Linux
- Send Mail and Texts: send emails and text messages from within Linux, from accounts set up in Android

This all starts with android, by creating our own custom completely open source ROM Linux will be able to interact with Android on a whole new level. Get all your emails, texts and notifications from Android in Linux, access all your files from both Android and Linux and so much more!
By using an Open source ROM a growing community will easily be able to port this to more devices, allowing for many 'unofficial' builds for a huge support base.

LinuxonAndroid already supports 8 different distributions, and in time we hope to support stable versions of all of these all tightly integrated with Android, just pick your favourite distribution and away you go!
We will start with Ubuntu as the first officially supported distro but plan to quickly move to support Debian, Kali Linux, Fedora, ArchLinux and many more.
These will come with a base of software including web browser, office and email clients with other modifications required to 'talk' to Android and access the file system, notifications etc. All the changes will be open source and available from our git and repositories.

Below a break down of our funding goals, any money raised will go towards the project and pushing it to its goal, but we believe at these funding points we can archive these goals. Its also important to note that while we will only be officially supporting the below devices all the work will be open source so developers will be able to port to other devices in the future!

£3000 - All of the Above plus Nexus 5 support
£5000 - All of the Above plus Nexus 7 (both 2012/13) and Nexus 10 support

LinuxonAndroid has been running for just over two years, and we have grown from strength to strength. From our simple beginnings of a guide on XDA the project has grown and grown, we currently stand at around 60,000 active installs of our app (Complete Linux Installer), get about 25,000 weekly downloads of our Linux images on source forge and now support 8 different Linux distributions.
We have grown so much but its now time to take it to a new level with successful funding LinuxonAndroid will evolve into something truly useful, something that makes your Android device in to far more, into a full computer.
And this is where we need YOU, we have the ideas, we have the skills we just do not have the funding or the free time. Only you can help here, by funding the project and helping us reach our goals we can guarantee dedicated time on the project to meet and smash our goals.
As an added intensive to the project we have set up the current perks, with more perks possibly being added at a later date. Donate just £2 and you will be sent a donation key that will unlock all the extra features in the current app, donate £10 and you will be one of the first to get early access to the next version!
Donate £40 and we will send you a nice little swag bag plus a donation key AND early access to the next version.
