A Documentary to reduce waistlines
Our feature length documentary promises to deliver a realistic approach to fat loss and help viewers gain insight into what it truly takes to lose weight and adopt a sustainable healthy lifestyle without the use of crash diets or extreme exercises.
With this documentary we want to showcase the efforts of of a real trainer who's more than a glorified drill sergeant. It's time to ditch this false persona and adopt a new one based on realistic and sustainable methods.
Over the course of 6 months we will follow trainer Elsbeth Vaino and her systems of strength training designed to deliver results for the average person without endless cardio sessions and dangerous crash diets.
Filming has already begun and so has Karl and Shara's journey towards a healthier life. But we need your help.
Inspiration
The fitness industry is having an identity crisis. The efforts of personal trainers are being overshadowed by the popularity of weight loss shows and celebrity trainers promoting pseudoscience while perpetuating harmful myths.
Today's fitness professionals work on the front lines of preventative healthcare and are playing a crucial role in the fight against obesity.
Our documentary is a step towards rebranding the public image of personal trainers to advanced health coaches dedicated to making weight loss accessible and safe to all.
Coach
Elsbeth knows the importance of healthy habits inside and out. Inspired by the changes she was seeing in herself, Elsbeth decided to leave her successful career as an engineer behind and enter the male dominated fitness industry. Although she may not be your prototypical image of a personal trainer, Elsbeth has gained respect among her peers through her devotion and dedication to keeping up to date with the most advanced research and methods for weight loss.
Karl and Shara
Karl and Shara have both taken different paths to where they are now. Despite their differences, they also share the same struggle. Chosen for their openness and desire to change, Karl and Shara are ready to leave their past failures behind and get down to finally losing weight and keeping it off.
Making A Movie
The transition from short form to feature length is an exciting challenge. After pouring my lifesavings into used production equipment, I’m ready to bring Karl and Shara’s journey to the screen. Having been in their shoes, I know what it’s like to not feel comfortable in your own body and I’m excited to have an opportunity to help others realize they’re not alone in their struggles.
My name is Dave Baker and I’m a former personal trainer dedicated to helping the public connect to leaders in the field of fitness and health and inspiring others through interactive documentaries.
It’s an exciting time to be an indie filmmaker. Production costs are at an all time low and making a great looking movie has never been easier.
Despite these exciting opportunities, the link between money and better finished product still exists. Production has already started with filming being done at Elsbeth’s gym Custom Strength in Ottawa but we need your help to make this the best movie possible.
Your contributions will all go directly back into the movie and help cover the costs for the following items:
- A new microphone for clearer audio during our interviews (our current microphone is held together by tape!)
- A new hard drive to protect against data loss (we plan on shooting over 100 hours of HD footage)
- Lighting set up for better image quality
- New DSLR lense for increased creativty with framing and shots
- Various filters for better image quality
If we surpass $5000 overall we will use funds to hire outside help for recording audio and creating motion graphics.
Ways You Can Help
We want you to be a part of this project in whichever way you can. Our modest goal of $8000 can be reached through your contributions and in return we want to include you in the movie making process.
If contributing financially is outside your means, there’s still other ways to help. By sharing this page through your twitter and Facebook you will be showing others that you support Karl and Shara’s journey to healthier life and help promote sustainable weight loss.
