I hope you like it and contribute to this new way of understanding cinema through therapy and through collaboration. This film is being possible thanks to the goodwill of more than 1,000 people, who donated their 8mm footage, lend us their voice, their music talents and everything. Now its time for us to pay them back as we believed our film is top Hollywood quality.
Making this movie is a dream, here in Colombia is pretty hard to make a feature film and we need to raise money in order to develop a top notch feature length. Please contribute and share with your friends this initiative of understanding films on a therapeutic way.
Live Life Dearestis a film co-produced so far by more than 1,000 people from around the world, that tells the story of several people who realize that they only exist and live through someone else's dreams. This fictional compilation, melancholic and nostalgic, uses home videos and films—the vast majority in SUPER 8— to portray a journey through various stages of life, ranging from the loss of innocence to the death of a loved one; always with a poetic and thoughtful tone, which makes the film become a therapy that seeks to raise awareness in the senses.
In order to develop this film, an innovative idea was introduced. An idea never developed before. The first step was the recollection of home made videos around the world, making them a crucial input in the development of the narrative. Afterwards, the tapes were restored, re-edited, and re-signified by the director. Live Life Dearest will be established under the slogan of "films made by you and for you", so that each person who donated their videos to the project will automatically become a co-producer of the film.
This project, conducted by a Colombian, may be considered a transmedia and transnational film with no defined nationality, made from the global collective, but always guided by Escobar. The film consists of four specific times, which are questioned and exposed in a poetic and introspective manner. This is the reason that explains why the project is divided into four short films that will gradually connect among one another, each led by a different feeling and narrated in a different language. The English, Spanish, and French were the languages chosen to recite this visual experience.
The Dutchman Tim van den Hoff, is the executive producer of the film because he gained the spot after being our major contributor. Saray Pavón, prolific Spanish poet, lends her voice to one of the fragments of the work. Kevin MacLeod, American composer who has worked in more than 1,100 films, is the responsible behind the music. Finally, Harley Grady, a young talent on the so-called timelapse, is responsible for the management of the art time.
Live Life Dearest is presented as a unique and pioneering project of its kind, that the we are certain that the public will enjoy in early 2014 through the Internet, and perhaps, in some alternative venues in different countries, after being displayed among various art and film festivals.
This leads to the birth of a new initiative and a new way to understand the film, because it shows that through the memories, marriage and the breakdown of barriers between nations, great things can be accomplished, for what is considered trash by many, can be considered a treasure by others, which leads us to a single question:
are our memories to be considered impurities, or perhaps a treasure?
So far, Live Life Dearest has gained worldwide recognition winning several film festivals, as it was first presented as a shortfilm which you can see below.
Dreamers behind the curtain
Juan Diego Escobar Alzate has studied filmmaking for several years now, gaining a name on the Latin-American art scene. He has directed short films and ads that have been awarded worldwide. Juan Diego is passionate about exploring new ways of understanding films, he believes films aren´t just a way of entertainment but the can also be interpreted as a way through therapy, as a way to self reflection. He is a collectionist of giallo films and international hidden gems. He has a big passion for philosophy, astrology and poetry.
Tim van den Hoff natal country is Netherlands. He has been in the business for more than 10 years. At the early age of 18, Tim won the ThinkQuest internet challenge and established his first business. He has published some books on philosophy which is one of his passions, nonetheless, he has a film company called Vloeditcht Films. He is one skillful director who like to shot footage in SUPER 8 . His hard work and sweat has pushed him as far as he is now. He was a major contributor to Lana del Rey's Videogames music video.
Kevin MacLeod is a music renowned composer. He has worked in the film score of more than 1,100 films from around the world. His way of understanding music and media are unique and transgressive as he is one of the pioneers of the exchange of music through creative commons.
Harley Grady's passion for the stars, cosmos and the universe are endless and limitless. He is an astrophotographer and his timelapses and hard work has been followed by many.
Saray Pavón Márquez is pure talent. Despite her young age she has managed herself to make a spot between the main Hispanic poets of the moment. She has published several books on poetry that have generated excitement among readers and poets and have been critically acclaimed.
Tom O´Bedlam is the alias of a person who has been reading poetry, animating the readings with images--often of the text itself--and uploading the audio/video to Youtube. His channel has now attracted over 1,600,000 views. His dramatic and nostalgic voice and his heartfelt whispers has gained Tom a lot of fans worldwide.
Nicholas Bueno Davis is the right hand of film director Juan Diego Escobar. Although he had never worked in films before his talent was discovered by Escobar a couple of years ago and soon the teamed up and started working on a lot of short films. Despite being an economist his passion for films forced him to study on how to improve his voice and his vocal techniques.
Where do the money go?
As you can see on the graph below, this is how the Live Life Dearest crew will be spending the money that the donors gave us in order to fulfill our dream and not surrender in this intent of establishing a new and therapeutic way on understanding cinema.
The Impact
We plan to make it big. We are young talent who doesn't get scared by true challenges. The impact this film will have will be enormous, first of all because we are introducing a new way of understanding cinema and second of all, because it will be the first film done not only by crowdfunding donors, but also through a crowdfunding campaign of recollection of home video footage. Nonetheless, don´t worry, we already have all of the material we need in order for this dream to be born and raised.
