From a musician whose toothache makes him unable to play the guitar, to a college student trying to understand the captivating Spanish speaker he met at a hookah bar, to a young girl on a quest to regain her virginity after a wild night, “Lost in Austin” tells the stories of people trying to navigate life in the crazy world of Austin, Texas.

Who are we?

"Lost in Austin" is produced, written, directed, and edited entirely by a group of twenty freshman Radio-TV-Film students at the University of Texas at Austin. We had a dream to create a feature film from start to finish, so that's what we did.  Our passion for filmmaking can be seen through our motivation, hard work, and imagination.  

How did we get started?

One young man by the name of Sean Corbin was responsible for this group coming together.  A few weeks after starting his first year at UT Austin, Sean put up a post on a freshman filmmakers Facebook group asking for anyone who was interested in making a feature film to meet up and talk about the project.  

Many weekly meetings later, our group had grown to around twenty students, all dedicated to getting this feature into production.  Ideas were thrown around, scripts were finalized, casting calls were sent out, and the equipment was gathered.  Then, for the rest of our first semester of college, we worked to reach our dream of making a feature film.  At no point did we look back, and now the film is in the final stages of post-production.  

Why "Lost in Austin"?

Most of the people working on the film are not native to Austin.  As college freshman, we were thrust into a new world far away from the comfort of our homes.  In a sense we were all lost, and forced to find our way through the challenges that college and Austin put in our way.

The film, in this case, reflects reality.  Just as we were trying to find who we were as people, and where we fit into the city of Austin, so are the characters in the film.  Each character is searching for something, whether it be love, possessions, talent, or a purpose in life.  

Austin as a Character

Austin, Texas is a vibrant young city, full creativity and inspiration.  It's known as the Live Music Capital of the World (so expect a great soundtrack!), but the film industry is just as vibrant.

The setting of a film is often times just as important as the characters in it, which is why we wanted to capture Austin in its truest form.  The natural beauty of the rolling hills meets the trendiness of city life.  Austinites piece the two together with their passion for life, friendliness, and everlasting youth.
