The book will be available in Italian and English
Lumina is a bright, colorful italian graphic novel project by Emanuele Tenderini and Linda Cavallini, and this is the crowdfunding campaign created to fund the second volume.
![]()
The book's genre is inbetween sci-fi and fantasy,
mainly inspired by Miyazaki, whose influence you'll certainly
recognize in the vast landscapes and open spaces. Wonderful creatures
and charismatic characters will be involved in one of the most
amazing adventures ever told in a graphic novel.
The plot unveils around the story of two children, Kite
and Miriam, brother and sister, who find themselves thrown in a
parallel world called Lumina.
This will be one of the first comic books in the world
to be colored with the hyperflat technique (link) and printed using hexachrome, a six-color printing process (link).
We decided to bring this project to life through the
crowdfunding community, as we believe that the straight connection
between the authors and the readers is the strongest factor during
the publishing process.
Plus, we are sure that the only way the comics world
can be brought to a higher level is through the support of its
ultimate investors - the readers.

The story
The planet, Fej Farok, brother and sister Miriam e
Kite
Lumina is the oldest planet in the whole
Universe. All civilizations span from it and all of the existing
parallel dimensions will converge to it. Lumina is the planet of
light and creation, the kingdom of Fej
Farok.
The
Fej-Farok is a creature that is both parasite and deity: it can go
through the veil that separates all parallel dimensions, and keeps
their balance. This creature is actually made up of two parts –
the Fej
and the Farok – that after a series of events need to be held into
two physical bodies, two
vessels,
picked among the descendants of the Abyssals.
And so, the
Fej-Farok literally possesses
their bodies, giving them a terrific power. They
actually become the Fej (Yin), and the Farok (Yang) themselves.
The
Fej-Farok had ruled Lumina since time began.
Earth.
Today.
Miriam and Kite are two lively kids, like many of their
age, divinding their time between school and friends. They’re
orphans. Miriam looks after her little brother, who’s not really
the easy kind, though. Miriam is a very nice young girl and careful
sister but at times she can be a little bit too harsh with herself
and the people around her. Kite is a real force of nature, lazy at
school and in everyday tasks and a real daredevil on the streets
while practicing his favorite hobby, Parkour: he’s a young, flashy
energy mix.
At
the beginning of the story the two were worried about a strange
hallucination they shared: they saw themselves unmoving, hand in
hand, suspended into a mesmerized state, staring at a strange
geometric flame containing a bright light tearing off the strange
polygon from its center. Kite and Miriam have never given too much
credit to these visions, untill the day they got suddenly surrounded
by very menacing mysterious black creatures. Frightened to the bones,
they tried to run away, but they were dragged into a strange place:
the same they saw into those visions.
When they woke up, they
found themselves in the middle of a bloody battle between the Black
Creatures and a powerful warrior. Meanwhile, above them, a black
titan materialized, destroying everything around him: the two
stunned kids were misteriously turned into two growling red
creatures; then saved and turned back into humans by a new charming
character named Lu-Ay.
At the end of a puzzling and upsetting
conversation with Lu-Ay, Miriam and Kite are unfortunately parted
from each other: while Miriam is taken by a Black Creature, Kite
stays behind, now alone, confused but very determined to find his
sister. He will face a long and hard journey, alongside extraordinary
creatures. His aim is to find Miriam and get out of the wide and
dazzling planet of Lumina, as the fearsome warrior Oleg and the
abyssal Nohea call it.

... what will happen now?
Help us reach the goals!
For this second volume we need € 29.000,00 to cover these expenses:

This is what we need to print the book, but we do not want to stop here!
With the previous campaign we were able to record the Lumina soundtrack and now our goal is to have enough funds to create the new soundtrack by Remo Baldi.
Moreover we would like to publish two spin-off called "World of Lumina" dedicated to Oleg and Kite and drawn by two young Italian artists under the supervision of Emanuele and Linda.
If we reach the stretch goals all the contributors will receive the soundtrack and the spinoff for free.
This is the roadmap:
