2. The Scattergood Foundation has agreed to donate $1 for every $1 raised! (up to $2,500)
3. The Design Challenge has proven to create successful and sustainable programs in the past. Read about our previous winners here.
4. This will be the 1st ever comprehensive mental health component in a retail clinic ever! it will forever change the landscape of how health care is delivered at the local level.
If we fail to raise $10,000 - We will still be using the money raised for materials that will help increase Education, Access and Services for mental health care at QCare in North Philadelphia
What is a
Design Challenge:
A Design Challenge
can be better understood as
asking the community to submit solutions, or interventions, on pressing social
issues (in this instance, mental health care)
What is a Retail Clinic?
Retail clinics (CVS'
Minute Clinic, Walgreens' Take Care Clinic) have existed since 2000. They are small health clinics located
within a larger store in which patients can receive basic primary health care.
They are known for convenience, low cost and high quality care.

Who We Are:
The Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation is a Quaker-based, philanthropic, grant-making foundation committed to raising its voice to improve the system through which behavioral healthcare is delivered in the Philadelphia region.
Drexel University School of Public Health provides hands-on opportunities for students and faculty, coupled with the rigor of an incredibly high quality academic environment. Because of our unique community-collaborative approach to education, our graduates leave the Drexel University School of Public Health—founded as a "school without walls"—having already made a meaningful difference in thousands of lives.
The Collaboration between the Scattergood Foundation and Drexel University School of Public Health began in 2011 when Joe Pyle encouraged students of Drexel to work with him on solving pressing mental health issues. Over the past three years the Scattergood Foundation has had three student projects (including this one) that have gone on to present Design Challenges to the community. The past two years have worked with the National Council for Behavioral Health and Active Minds, Inc. to address Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Stigma on college campuses, respectively. The success of those projects has led Scattergood to present it's first crowdfunded Design Challenge addressing Mental Health in Retail Clinics. This year there are several partnering organizations including: Family Practice and Counseling Network and Mental Health America.
